Job Summary:
The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling personnel and equipment, monitoring their usage and location. They manage material and equipment orders and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and Michell staff to ensure timely delivery. The dispatcher also handles office administration tasks, such as answering phone calls and providing support and assistance to other departments as needed. They dispatcher represents the company to customers, clients, and visitors and provides them with a friendly, positive, and professional experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatches equipment and personnel to job sites.
Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and suppliers to ensure scheduling and operational needs are met.
Monitors equipment locations and tracks their usage.
Schedules truck driver shifts and assigns duties.
Warmly communicates and assists customers, clients, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
Books and coordinates BC ferries for equipment and personnel transportation.
Provides customer service by answering phone calls and responding to inquiries.
Manages and maintains the HR calendar, tracks vacation and sick days.
Provides support and assistance to other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
2+ years' experience in a dispatching role considered an asset.
Experience in the civil excavating or construction industry is an asset.
Experience with Assignar scheduling software considered an asset.
Advanced written and oral communication skills.
Advanced interpersonal skills.
Advanced problem-solving skills and can manage multiple priorities at once.
Advanced organizational and time-management skills.
Proficient knowledge of computer software including Windows, Office, and other applications.
