Our client, a leading provider of barge transportation and log towing services with a focus on providing outstanding solutions to the lumber sector, is currently looking for a driven and meticulous person to work as a Hodder Dispatcher on a full-time permanent basis. SALARY RANGES FROM $80K to $125K

Responsibilities:

  • Shipping log booms to nearby timber mills using tugboats.
  • Working together with other tugboat companies who tow logs into rivers to help with the tows.
  • Transporting client log booms to the Hodder log boom storage areas.
  • Getting client email two orders and input them into the database program tailored to the industry, handling log storage, orders, notes, releases, priorities, and more.
  • Giving the skippers daily instructions for towing logs, making sure that priorities are communicated clearly.
  • Constantly staying in contact with tugboat skippers via marine VHF radio.
  • Possibilities to earn SVOP certification to operate a water taxi, ROC-M marine radio certification, and drone operation over storage sites.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizing abilities.
  • Skillful verbal and written communication.
  • Capacity to function in a dynamic and fast-paced work setting.
  • A readiness to pick up new skills and adjust to new software.
  • The ability to take calls in the evening and react quickly to requests.
  • Certification in marine radio and related fields is an asset.
Training:
  • No prior industry knowledge is required;comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Training covers a wide range of topics, such as barge towing methods, tug assist software, digital timesheets, log towing operations, storage ground and barge tie-up locations, and more.
  • Training runs from 8 a.M. To 5 p.M., Monday through Friday, for about three to six months.
  • After training, you\'ll switch to a Monday through Sunday, seven days on, seven days off schedule.
