The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewUnder the general direction of the Supervisor, Warehouse and Distribution, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Dispatcher is responsible for: receiving, recording and charging out all requests for deliveries or pickups of supplies, equipment, courier service, specimens, x-rays, requisitions, etc., and dispatching porters, messengers and supply attendants to respond to these calls; problem-solving relating to immediate issues; performing receptionist and clerical duties; initiating and updating unit orders; compiling statistics; assigning staff; and performing other performing other related duties as assigned.Experience

  • Six (6) months related office experience, plus;
  • Six (6) months experience in an area where medical/surgical supplies are handled.
OR
  • Six (6) months experience in the Messenger classification.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12, or recognized equivalent.
Certification/Licensure/RegistrationNot ApplicableQualifications and Skills
  • Data entry speed: 65 numerical keystrokes per minute.
  • Ability to work in a Windows operating environment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Polite and courteous telephone manner.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with accuracy.
  • Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.
