Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented
Dispatch Team Leader
to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating the movement of vehicles and resources within the fleet division, ensuring timely and efficient dispatch operations. This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills, the ability to analyze logistical data, and proficiency in using dispatch systems, phone communication tools, and fleet management software. The Dispatch Team Leader will serve as the primary liaison between drivers, dispatchers, and other departments, helping to streamline operations and resolve issues in real time.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides supervision and leadership to the Dispatch Associates. Plans and outlines daily workload distribution for Associates to execute completion.
Compiles data on incidents and accident, and distributes and communicates with appropriate personnel.
Co-ordinates the flow of inbound and outbound freight while staying abreast of daily priorities and weekly transportation targets.
Ensures the timely resolution of customer inquiries, concerns and problems.
Supports Regional Transportation operations offering assistance and guidance as required.
Plans and schedules Associates to ensure proper staffing across all shifts, ensuring alignment with volumes and service expectations.
Reviews accuracy of time and attendance reporting to ensure legal compliance with hours of work.
Strong knowledge of applicable, SME in Load Master, Retail Link and routes within region.
Requirements:
Post-secondary education in Logistics & Transportation is an asset .
Working knowledge of transportation cargo claims, transportation laws and risk management.
Awareness of Highway traffic act including hours of service, TDG, weight restrictions etc.
Must have excellent organizational skills, work collaboratively, manpower planning experience, resource allocation, problem solving and trouble-shooting; information gathering including research, interpretation and analysis (i.e. client and system requirements, description of problems, etc.); and conflict management.
Communication skills including written (reports) Email and verbal (internal and external customers).
Indirect supervision of driving staff on a daily basis; ability to lead, motivate and manage a team; strong customer focus.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite programs.
Time management skills including an ability to work in a fast -paced environment, multi-task, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Customer Service Skills including effectively and efficiently responding to client and driver inquiries; resolving any conflicts or problems that might arise; etc.
Strong communication skills (Verbal /Written).
French is viewed as an asset.
Flexibility to work shifts as required by operational demands
