The position of Dishwasher is a valuable asset to the Cafe Postino team. The duties of a dishwasher are indispensable to success. Dishwashing includes cleaning dishes and flatware and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and restaurant. Health and safety are highly important for food preparation.
Dishwashers are responsible for preventing as much contamination as possible.

Tasks
? Collaborate with the team to maintain restaurant cleanliness and follow health and safety guidelines
? Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
? Disinfect all prep surfaces, slicers and kitchen equipment after use
? Properly sort, wash, and sanitize soiled dishes, cutlery, glassware, and cookware
? Change water of machines and sinks ensuring proper chemical levels are maintained
? Assist in timely storing of food deliveries
? Maintain trash cans throughout the shift and remove full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift
? Maintain dry storage area and organization of storage shelves
? Assist chef with requested duties as needed
? Sweep and mop throughout the shift as needed and ensure a thorough clean is completed at end of the shift
? Wipe down walls and machines
Qualifications and Requirements
? High school diploma or equivalent
? Previous dishwashing or hospitality experience is a plus
? Passion for hospitality and customer service
? Self-motivated with a high energy level
? Excellent communication skills
? Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
? Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods and lift items as needed

Lines of Communication
Dishwashers report to and are directly supervised by the Chef or Back of the House Manager.
Compensation
Dishwashers are paid on an hourly basis as per minimum wage standards in Ontario.
Kitchen Safety Measures
Prevent Slips and Falls
1. Clean up spills immediately and remove any obstacles or wet spots on the floor.
2. Post Wet-Floor Signage for staff and customers after mopping.
3. Wear slip-resistant shoes to minimize injuries from slipping on floors.
Handle Hazardous Chemicals with Care
Staff should be familiar with Material Safety Data Sheets. They must also use any protective gear available.
Do not mix chemicals without knowing the proper dilutions and reactions.
Prepare for Emergencies
Know the emergency exists and the locations of the fire extinguisher.
Employee Hygiene for the Kitchen
Wash Hands Frequently
Wash hands with warm soapy water before and after handling food, utensils, and equipment.
Wear a Proper Uniform
Uniform standards are important to safety. In addition to slip-resistant shoes, hairnets, plastic gloves, and aprons contribute to safety. These items prevent hair and germs from contaminating food and drinks.
Dishwashers are required to wear clean black pants or jeans. Cafe Postino will provide you with one shirt which must be clean every shift. Additional shirts are available at cost. Aprons will be provided.
