Our Human Resources group is currently looking to add a
Disability & Occupational Testing Specialist
to our team, based in Edmonton, AB.
Reporting to the Manager, Disability & Benefits, we are seeking a highly organized and compassionate professional who has demonstrated expertise in workers' compensation case management, drug and alcohol testing coordination, substance abuse assessments, and non-occupational injury support. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the Canadian WCB systems, a proactive approach to employee wellness, and the ability to manage sensitive cases with discretion and care.

Duties and Responsibilities
Manage caseload of injured worker claims from initial report through to resolution
Assess eligibility for benefits under the Workers' Compensation Act
Coordinate care plans with healthcare providers, employers, and injured workers
Communicate decisions and next steps clearly to all stakeholders
Address barriers to recovery and facilitate timely return-to-work plans
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all case activities
Schedule and monitor pre-employment, random, post-incident, and return-to-duty tests
Liaise with third-party labs and Medical Review Officers
Interpret and communicate test results
Ensure compliance with internal policies
Support employees through substance abuse programs and coordinate follow-up services as needed
Manage non-work-related injury and illness claims efficiently and with empathy
Develop and monitor individualized return-to-work plans in collaboration with HR and healthcare providers
Ensure compliance with human rights legislation and privacy standards
Act as the primary contact for employees on medical leave
Prepare reports for leadership on case trends, outcomes, and compliance metrics
Requirements
Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources, Occupational Health, Disability Management, or a related field
3 years of experience working with a Canadian Workers' Compensation Board (WCB)
Proven, in-depth knowledge of Canadian WCB jurisdictions, health and safety regulations, and privacy laws
Previous experience with Drug & Alcohol program administration
Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
