About The Role


We are looking for a compassionate, critical thinker with great listening and communication skills to join our team as a Disability Claims Manager. You will be responsible for proactively managing disability claims in a fair and consistent manner making informed decisions regarding disability entitlement, employee recovery and return to work.

What You'll Be Doing

Support employees through their medical absence from work by determining benefits available through Employer disability plans Analyze and review medical information to determine initial and ongoing entitlement to STD and/or LTD benefits Work with RWAM's Rehabilitation Specialists to proactively put plans in place to support employee recovery and return to work Conduct thorough phone interviews to assess details of absences resulting in fair and informed claim decisions Coordinate independent medical examinations when required to support claims Liaise with Employers, Insurance Carriers and medical practitioners when necessary

What You'll Bring

Strong communication skills - You are an active listener with the ability to overcome difficult situations and conversations The ability to consider complex claims, medical details and contractual language The ability to assess supporting medical information and make timely decisions using your critical judgement A post-secondary degree, and/or healthcare background and/or related practical experience * French language is an asset
