The Director's Assistant is responsible for delivering a high quality personal customer experience by ensuring that Sylvan education programs are delivered by teachers as designed and that the ongoing education needs of Sylvan families are met. To ensure a personal learning experience, the Director's Assistant monitors student performance, meets regularly with families, and reports to the Centre Director and Director of Education. The Director's Assistant also observes and coaches the teaching staff, ensuring robust instructional experiences. The Director's Assistant serves as the point-of-contact for customers and manages Centre operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Communicates effectively with Sylvan families and provides a high level of customer service in person, via phone and via email
Manages and delivers all conference activities such as preparing conference materials and meeting with parents to keep families informed and engaged
Learns to deliver Sylvan programming effectively and spends time working with students each week to maintain high level of connection to programming
Selects and hires teachers, ensuring that all new staff meet Sylvan hiring standards
Provides initial and ongoing training/observes and coaches instructional staff on a regular basis to ensure that teachers follow sylvan's Instructional Management guidelines and deliver instructional sessions that are balanced and robust
Schedules and manages teaching staff to meet Centre needs and to control labour costs
Monitors quality of educational programs to ensure student growth
Develops and supports ongoing sales goals within the centre
Other Administrative tasks as assigned
Occasional offsite visits to schools, libraries, local community events, supply runs, etc
BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in related field - preferred but not required
Experience in supervisor/training role
Previous customer/or sales experience
Experience in an office setting
Previous experience with communication via phone and email
We will provide additional training for all aspects of the specific position
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Ability to supervise, coach, and develop teachers/instructional staff
Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to discuss and sell Sylvan products and services to new and existing customers

Self-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasks

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends
Ability to work effectively with attention to detail
Ability to obtain vulnerable sector police check
Valid Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle

WHAT YOU GET
Salary of $41000-$44000 depending on experience and will start with two weeks paid vacation time. Ongoing opportunities for bonus salary and bonus paid vacation days.
