Director, Undergraduate Programs, College of Education
Primary Purpose: The primary focus of this position is to coordinate the design, development and delivery of the College of Education undergraduate programming through recruitment, academic advising, committee participation and admissions initiatives.

• With a focus on the student experience, coordinate the design, development, and delivery of the College of Education undergraduate programming through recruitment, academic advising, committee participation, partnerships, and admission initiatives.
• In collaboration with the Dean and Associate Deans, develop strategic plans for the undergraduate program in the College of Education, including enrolment targets, internationalization, and partnerships.
• Participate in campus-wide initiatives, including the Co-Curricular Record (CCR).
• Develop a recruitment strategy-to meet enrolment targets and an eye for internationalization-that is innovative and targets prospective students for the newly implemented direct entry program. In collaboration with campus stakeholders, plan student events (Open House, U-Start, Orientation, etc.) and ensure publications, websites, and necessary information is up to date.
• In collaboration with the Programs Office staff and the Admissions office, oversee the Admissions process and work to meet enrolment targets.
• Offer expertise and insight on the B.Ed. program requirements to the Undergraduate Programs Committee, Deans and Heads Large Committee, and the Education Faculty Council.
• Foster positive change and working relationships in the Undergraduate Programs Office (UPO), including acting as a People Leader for academic roles in the UPO.
• Oversee and work in collaboration with ICT/SiS to implement systems in the Undergraduate Programs Office that will increase efficiencies, enhance securities, and improve the student experience (e.g., e-filing system, online advising appointments, DegreeWorks for the various B.Ed. routes, etc.) while meeting the needs of the end users.
• Participate in campus wide meetings, including Academic Advisory Committee and student recruitment meetings.
• Ensure the information in the Course and Program Catalogue is accurate by facilitating the necessary changes are approved by the various college- and university-level committees.

Nature of Work:
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs, Partnerships, and Research in the College of Education, this position is responsible for:

• Communications (e.g., visioning of the Power of Education video used for recruitment and alumni relationships; marketing publications for prospective students; communications for current students)
• Coordinating - admissions, recruitment, and regional college partner strategies.
• Undergraduate program (Bachelor of Education) renewal and change.
• Policy visioning and alignment, creating motions, examining current policy and working with internal and external partners/stakeholders for policy approval and implementation.
• Supporting and visioning for college initiatives related to undergraduate programming
• Contribute to Undergraduate and College policy development, including to meet student needs
• Evaluating admissions qualifications and selection criteria
• Working with internal collegiate partners on shared programming (i.e., Kinesiology, Arts and Science).
• Overseeing and coordinating new initiatives that align with the program (i.e., Learning Communities, e-filing, Co-Curricular Record) to make the unit and/or program better and to see increased efficiencies.
• Increased coordination and work with Regional Colleges given the direct entry focus and Education coursework that will now be delivered via distance to those sites.

Accountabilities:

• Implement team building initiatives, such as Education academic advisor meetings and unit retreats.
• Develop the strategic focus for internal Admissions processes.
• Participate in regular meetings with Assoc. Dean, Undergraduate Programs, Partnerships, and Research regarding undergraduate program and initiatives.
• Provide insight to senior leadership by meeting with the Dean, as requested, and sitting on the college Deans and Heads (large group) committee.
• Participate in and provide expertise to the Undergraduate Programs Committee. Develop motions to facilitate policy changes along with the necessary documentation, to the monthly Undergraduate Programs Committee meetings.
• Attend and act as a resource at monthly Education Faculty Council meetings.
• Develop and coordinate accessible recruitment and retention strategies.
• Manage diverse external campus recruitment events and build relationships.
• Strategize with academic partners in determining and coordinating program development and requirements and developing transfer credit and articulation agreements.
• Provide insight to the University community about all procedures for admissions, recruitment, awards, convocation and academic advising for the undergraduate program in the College of Education.
• Participate in related committee meetings including the Teaching, Learning, and Student Experience (TLSE) student recruitment meetings, the Student Recruitment Committee, Academic Advising Council, and Academic Advisors Group.
• Coordinate undergraduate student admissions in collaboration with Programs Office and TLSE staff.
• Advise prospective and current teacher candidates as well as provide high-level conflict resolution support and advice, as required.
• Provide effective leadership to the College of Education TLSE support teams in the development of technology to enhance student experience, ensure best practices, and implement college and institutional IT development.
• Provide leadership and support to the undergraduate programs office by modeling a high standard of performance and outcomes and ensure positive, diverse and inclusive work environments.
• Support the Associate Dean with consultation, coordination and development of strategic planning.
• Advocate as a key resource person to internal and external stakeholders of the university in regard to admissions, awards/scholarships, transfer credit, convocation, and the undergraduate program.
• Develop and support community-based cohorts and other initiatives with external partners
• Supervise and provide leadership for direct reports, including the Academic and Learning Communities Advisor and the Academic Advisor and Learning Communities Coordinator.

Qualifications
Education: Master's degree or a combination of demonstrated experience and skills may be considered.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field in the post-secondary environment. Extensive experience in academic programing, advising, and coordination of undergraduate programs in a university setting, with evidence of increasing levels of responsibility. Working knowledge of University of Saskatchewan regulations, policies and procedures. Proven track record of leadership, policy development, and negotiation and collaboration with partners (within the University campus and outside the University community). Experience supervising and directing staff is an asset.
Skills: Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality during interaction with senior leadership/administration, students, faculty, and staff. Excellent organizational skills. Proven flexibility and success in meeting constantly changing priorities and deadlines. Ability to work independently or collaboratively while providing strong leadership, motivation and team management skills. Ability to examine processes, resources, and situations, and provide effective options for enhancement and change. Ability to remain focused in a busy work environment. Ability to improve the student experience, enhance partnerships, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and develop policy.

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $87,266.00 - 145,353.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
