Director, Technology Delivery, Data and Planning
Purpose
The Director, Technology Delivery, Data & Planning is a strategic leader responsible for ensuring YEG's most critical technology initiatives are delivered effectively and generate measurable value. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Innovation, this role leads the development of integrated delivery strategies, manages risk across the technology portfolio, and supports the long-term success of YEG's strategic pillars: Grow Aviation, Optimize Operations, and Monetize Assets.
This role oversees a centralized delivery function--including project managers, business analysts, and QA/testing support--and leads the intake, prioritization, and execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives. It is also accountable for advancing YEG's enterprise data and AI strategy, including platform adoption, responsible data use, and enabling teams across the organization to work smarter and make faster, insight-driven decisions.
The Director collaborates closely with peers in the Technology and Innovation portfolio and with all strategic business units across the airport. They play a key role in co-developing multi-year roadmaps that balance operational demands with innovation opportunities, while also providing oversight to internal teams and third-party delivery partners. A strong focus on delivery maturity, service consistency, and team development ensures that initiatives are not only completed--but deliver lasting business impact.
This role is instrumental in enabling YEG's strategies through disciplined planning, accountable execution, and a focus on outcomes that improve operations, serve our customers, and position the airport for sustainable growth.
Key Accountabilities
Technology Planning & Business Alignment
Facilitate multi-year technology roadmaps in partnership with YEG's strategic business units, aligning initiatives with the airport's budgeting cycles and long-term strategy.
Support lifecycle planning for systems and infrastructure, ensuring foundational technology investments are proactively scoped and resourced.
Provide cyber risk advisory support and input on security controls, architecture, and compliance to support delivery and operational teams.
Represent YEG within relevant airport technology forums (e.g., ACI technology and cybersecurity committees), sharing best practices and advancing the airport's innovation profile.
Technology Delivery & Governance
Lead the planning and delivery of YEG's Level 3 and 4 (major) technology projects, ensuring alignment to strategic outcomes and measurable value.
Establish and maintain a formal gating process based on project risk, complexity, and impact.
Oversee comprehensive quarterly reporting for the entire technology portfolio, including financial performance, delivery health, and benefits realization.
Develop and lead portfolio governance processes, ensuring cross-functional alignment, risk mitigation, and executive visibility.
Maintain project financial oversight and ensure accurate forecasting, budget tracking, and ROI assessments for all initiatives.
Shared Services & Partner Oversight
Manage the Technology Shared Services group, including project managers, business analysts, QA/testing resources, and contracted delivery teams.
Oversee onboarding, performance, and accountability of all third-party delivery partners.
Recruit and develop delivery resources on an annual and as-needed basis to match portfolio demands and scale effectively.
Build and sustain a high-performing delivery team with a culture of ownership, transparency, and service excellence.
Enterprise Data Strategy & AI Enablement
Lead the design, implementation, and governance of YEG's data strategy, including policies, standards, and data architecture.
Oversee the development of integration platforms, data lake, and analytics environments to support real-time insight and operational reporting.
Define and maintain enterprise-wide standards for data classification, security, and responsible access.
Develop and deliver YEG's AI strategy and GenAI enablement roadmap, including enterprise toolset rollout, policy development, and training.
Build partnerships with technology providers and academic institutions to accelerate AI adoption and develop internal competencies.
Business Enablement & Service Optimization
Ensure technology services continuously evolve to meet the operational and strategic needs of staff, tenants, and partners.
Support process improvement, organizational change, and optimization initiatives to enhance service levels and efficiency.
Drive adoption of modern digital tools, responsible automation, and AI-driven workflows to improve employee productivity.
Foster a customer-focused mindset, emphasizing responsiveness, problem-solving, and accountability across all service areas.
Measures of Success (Year 1 and Ongoing)
Ensure delivery of all Level C and D projects on time, on budget, and with demonstrated value realization.
