To that end, we are looking for a Director, Sustainability for the Canadian Business. Reporting to the Vice President Operational Excellence and Sustainability, this important leadership role and hire will play a critical part in leveling up our sustainability capabilities. We are looking for a well-rounded operations expert who is excited at the prospect of creating an industry leading practice that challenges the status quo to deliver superior returns for Oxford. Eager to expand your expertise and work on projects that span across the business.

As a member of the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Translating the Oxford corporate sustainability strategy into targets and action plans for the Canadian business across office, retail and residential
  • Managing the implementation of Oxford\xe2\x80\x99s Canadian sustainability strategy and plan
  • Collaborating with teams from the leadership level to asset/site teams to clearly communicate the strategy/vision and guide action plans
  • Advising on sustainability priorities at the asset/ site team level; ensuring action plans are in place, KPIs are clear and measuring progress against them throughout the year
  • Overseeing Canadian business inputs into Oxford\xe2\x80\x99s sustainability benchmark reporting such as GRESB and other global reporting which may include oversight of third-party assurance processes. Establishing standards, sign off processes and overall support for Canadian business teams
  • Managing sustainability projects such as certifications, data management, decarbonization plans, tenant engagement and other programs and projects relevant to achieving the Canadian sustainability objectives across E, S and G
  • Support the selection and implementation of a data and utility management system and other relevant sustainability reporting tools to enable improved transparency and high performance across asset management, property operations and development/construction teams
  • Participating in OMERS/Oxford Sustainability working groups to champion new initiatives such as the pathway to net zero and social value / impact and advance Oxford\xe2\x80\x99s leadership position globally
  • Maintaining and sharing leading relevant perspectives, best practices and strategic advice with asset/site teams
  • Identifying and enabling standardized performance metrics and measurement tools
  • Managing and growing senior level stakeholder relationships inside and outside of the organization
  • Overseeing financial management of sustainability budget and initiatives
To succeed in this role, you have:
  • A strong interest and understanding of sustainability factors and valuation methods to further embed sustainability into asset management practices
  • Experience with leading global sustainability benchmarks, standards and frameworks such as GRESB, CRREM, TCFD and impact measurement
  • Understanding of the evolving expectations for sustainability among various stakeholders (e.g., pension plan shareholders, ESG ratings firms, governments globally etc.)
  • Exceptional ability to develop positive relationships, communicate and lead through influence with internal partners across geographies, build consensus and prioritize action and results
  • Experience managing teams, developing and growing team members
  • Experience designing and applying innovative solutions and working with business stakeholders to challenge the status quo, deliver solutions that tackle business problems and accelerate business objectives
  • Experience balancing global standards with local nuances, building the support and advocacy of distributed colleagues and delivering outcomes by engaging and influencing
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Multi-national corporate experience is strongly preferred
