The Equity Research department of Scotiabank currently has an opening for the position of Director, Supervisory Analyst to approve research publications. This position is suitable for an individual who has Supervisory Analyst experience or 3+ years of Equity Research Analyst or Associate experience coupled with a CFA designation. The ideal candidate will have current registrations with Canadian and US regulatory bodies.
Is this role right for you?
Review and sign off on equity research publications and other communications, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines
Ensure consistency throughout equity research publications including models, investment theses and supporting arguments
Work closely with Research Analysts and Associates to ensure that a clear message is conveyed in all publications
Review equity research reports for content, commerciality, quality, clarity, grammar, and application of editorial styles; material is in English
Ensure appropriate disclosures are included in research publications
Liaise with the Compliance department on queries, policies and compliance/regulatory matters impacting equity research, and restricted list/watch list escalations
Update databases and spreadsheets
Maintain a high level of communication with Equity Research Analysts and Associates
Special projects and participation in working groups as assigned
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We\'d love to work with you if you have:
A university degree in business or a relevant discipline
Completion of the CFA program is preferred
Completion of the Investment Dealer Supervisors Course (IDSC) exam is preferred
Current IIROC registration as a Supervisor is preferred
FINRA Series 16 License is preferred (timely & successful completion of the Series 16 exam will be required for individuals who do not have this license)
Previous Supervisory Analyst, Equity Research Analyst or Research Associate experience is required
Strong written communication skills with the ability to identify and interpret the context of a message, and edit accordingly
Knowledge of equity research compliance procedures
Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite
Experience using BlueMatrix or similar authoring/publishing tools would be an asset
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure with minimal supervision
Good business judgment, and problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work well with a team of Supervisory Analysts in various locations/time zones
Fluency in Spanish would be an asset
Individuals applying to this role must be willing to work early mornings as required to cover for vacations. Regular hours for this shift are 7am-3:30pm ET, Monday-Friday.
