Permanent Full Time-We are looking for a Director, Strategy & Planning.Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London or Winnipeg.The Canada Strategy team is focused on strategy development and support for strategic initiatives across Canada Life. The team partners with the business to develop the go-forward strategy for Canada and takes an integrated view of portfolios to assess capabilities and organizational readiness. Working with leaders across the business, the Strategy and Planning team helps solve critical issues providing a central perspective on cross-cutting themes. The team also provides support for the annual Board strategy session and the financial budgeting process.Reporting to the Vice-President, Strategy, this role will be responsible for the following:What you will do:

  • Canadian strategy development: Work closely with senior leadership and provide support to articulate the evolving go-forward strategy for the Canadian business. This includes sizing opportunities and required investments, identifying critical enabling initiatives and socializing the strategy with key stakeholders
  • Business unit / function support: Collaborate with the business units and functional areas, supporting select strategic initiatives and ensuring alignment with the vision and strategy for the Canadian business
  • Budget and planning support: Provide input on the annual budget, long-term financial plan and business plans for strategic initiatives
  • To be effective in the role the Director will need to:
  • Be an effective communicator, translating complex ideas and concepts into easily consumable materials for senior audiences (including the Board)
  • Establish relationships with key management across Canada Life
  • Have a firm understanding of the industry / external environmental factors
What you will bring:
  • Business education (graduate or undergraduate degree) preferred; other comparable professional designations considered
  • Strong business acumen, with demonstrated aptitude for strategic, analytical and critical thinking
  • Excellent analytical skills, including financial analysis and research
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficient use of tools like PPT and Excel
  • At least 5 years of progressive senior strategy experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, influencing, and relationship building skills
  • Experience partnering with business unit / operational leads to articulate and execute a strategy or strategic initiative
  • Proven ability to ramp up quickly on new subjects
-The base salary for this position is between $89,800 - $166,300 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
