The Director of Strategy and Business Transformation is responsible for enabling the organization to grow in a strategic and scalable fashion. The position focuses on supporting the senior leadership in building an organizational strategy which aligns to the company's strategies.
Day-to-day, the Director of Strategy and Business Transformation is responsible for identifying practical and effective ways to execute strategic and transformational projects initialized by AFLNS Senior Leadership Team (AFLNS SLT). This includes providing support in defining scopes for projects and programs, developing plans and budgets for these activities, and resourcing cross-functional teams capable of successful delivery.
Responsibilities
Organizational Strategy

  • Enable AFLNS SLT to update and approve overarching goals, vision, and strategy with a structured approach.
  • Provide support in delivering strategic documentation and updates for business plans, reviews, and quarterly assessments.
  • Establish and maintain a market-facing Business Intelligence program to identify market trends and competitor actions.
  • Proactively identify, summarize, and recommend updates to the current business strategy.
Program and Project Delivery for Strategic and Transformational Initiatives
  • Facilitate programs and activities for strategic business growth, defining scopes, timelines, budgets, and resources, while ensuring alignment with higher strategic goals.
  • If required collaborate with other program/project owners to create presentations highlighting key project implications and progress, addressing gaps or issues identified by the AFLNS SLT.
  • Develop presentations for active projects/programs for quarterly reviews, steering committee meetings, or board meetings.
Systems & Tools
  • Support with creating an Organizational Software and Applications Roadmap, including setting up forums for a clear process to introduce new tools.
  • Work with Corporate Architecture and Standard to identify opportunities to optimize the number of active applications in the organization, in order to simplify the ecosystem.
AFL Network of Collaborators
  • Establish effective communication frameworks for senior leadership on priority programs.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand specific needs and ensure strategic alignment.
  • Team up with project owners to create structured presentations highlighting key implications and progress.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation across the organization.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Management, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 8 years of experience in a strategic planning or business transformation role.
  • 5 years' experience in change management, and project management
  • Comfortable with agile ways of working and delivery
  • Experience leveraging a range of technology solutions to drive business results
  • Experience communicating and reporting to business executives
  • Experience in coordinating and managing dispersed groups of stakeholders
  • Experience managing and optimizing external vendor relationships
  • Broad understanding of the financial industry and the related legislative and regulatory framework
  • Creative and resourceful, with ability to find innovative ways to provide solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop internal & external relationships and ability to network to build connections with industry peers and experts
Working Conditions
  • Normal office environment
  • General hours of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Some travel may be required
