Who are we? VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation is Vancouver Coastal Health\'s primary philanthropic partner, raising funds for specialized adult health services and research for all British Columbians. We collaborate with donors to drive innovation and sustainable health care at VGH & UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehab Centre, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute and Vancouver Community Health Services. As a crucial part of our organization, the Strategic Partnerships & Campaign Communications team works to engage with our key stakeholders at VGH, UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehab Centre, Vancouver Community Health Services and the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute. We are responsible for understanding their needs and expectations, developing fundraising priorities and initiatives, and monitoring their progress. We also lead and execute the Foundation\'s strategic communications in support of campaigns and major gift strategies. Our team is specifically responsible for developing fundraising products that align with our strategic plan, sourcing and approving relevant details, and ensuring accurate and timely management of these initiatives once funded. Through our efforts, we strive to maximize the impact of donor-funded healthcare fundraising and create positive outcomes for our community. What\xe2\x80\x99s the opportunity? Reporting to the Vice President, Organizational Partnerships & Performance, the Director, Strategic Partnerships & Campaign Communications plays a critical role in supporting the organization\xe2\x80\x99s designated fundraising strategies by developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to identify and match hospital needs and requirements to fundraising opportunities. Working with the Foundation\xe2\x80\x99s fundraising team and various partners and key stakeholders, the Director, Strategic Partnerships & Campaign Communications leads the teams responsible for:

  • developing, managing and implementing major fundraising initiatives and campaigns that align with the Foundation\xe2\x80\x99s strategic plan and mandate
  • maintaining strategic partnerships with our health care partners to support effective fundraising and accountability to our donors
The Director inspires, leads and mentors the team, exemplifies collaborative leadership and liaises closely with departments and individuals throughout the organization. Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and direction on the team\xe2\x80\x99s key functions (communications strategy, develop fundraising initiatives/opportunities, management of donor funded projects) that support the organization\xe2\x80\x99s strategic goals and growth.
  • Establish the business rules, processes and work flow across the organization that support the team\xe2\x80\x99s work, including removing obstacles and negotiating and facilitating cross-departmental intersects.
  • Develops, leads and ensures smooth execution of the product strategy, along with the related communications and content to advance Foundation\xe2\x80\x99s fundraising priorities.
  • Build a new strategic communications roadmap and comprehensive plan for campaign fundraising and adjust for sustainability and growth.
  • Spearheads transformations to advance strategic direction and cultivate strategic partnerships.
  • Proactively seeks areas where the department can add value and positively impact on the operations and sustainability and growth of the Foundation.
  • Understands various business perspectives and needs of major gifts and campaign fundraising through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Acts as a subject matter (health care knowledge, key physicians and partners, historical information, etc.) expert and provides wide leadership as it relates to product development and strategy including helping to guide and influence our priority fundraising model.

  • Demonstrated ability to research, ideate/identify, develop, lead and evaluate implementation of philanthropic strategies.
  • Demonstrated project management and facilitation skills with a sound knowledge of formal project management methodologies and practices. Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple, competing deadlines, and time and resource constraints.
  • Innovative communications leader, facilitator and connector.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and proven team leader as evidenced by the performance of the team.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills to build high functioning teams, networks or communities of practice, and fostering cross-team collaboration.
  • Strategic expertise regarding fundraising partnerships, key communications and collateral.
  • Proven ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and discretion; demonstrated experience building and sustaining effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to absorb and synthesize complex information and translate for diverse audiences and purpose
  • Critical thinker with complex problem-solving and facilitation skills
  • Excellent business writing and editing skills; experience developing and writing fundraising cases for support and proposals preferred.
  • Extraordinary verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, financial, and problem solving abilities.
  • A university degree in a relevant field or equivalent education and experience. A graduate degree would be considered an asset
  • Familiarity with the advanced features of Microsoft Office suite of products and knowledge of a donor management system (Salesforce preferred).
  • Familiarity with the health care system is an asset.
What do we offer? This is a full-time Permanent position. The successful candidate can expect a competitive starting salary between $133,225 and $151,393, depending on experience.
