Leader Name: AVP, Strategic InitiativesWork Arrangement: Hybrid: You\'ll work both remote and onsite, where time onsite is based on your job accountabilities and performance objectives.Please note that this is a temporary position for 15 Months.As ATB\'s next Director, Strategic Initiatives, you will support ATB\'s strategy team and leadership to help translate broad challenges and opportunities into practical and strategic actions for ATB. This position works within the Strategy Team and with the wider organization to help identify and monitor these top-of-the-house priorities, and where necessary, help translate these opportunities into clear decisions for ATB. The value that this position helps create is a shared understanding of key opportunities, as well as alignment on the scope, scale, impact and the choices available to ATB. This role helps facilitate leaders, SLT and Board of Directors to a clear strategic decision and/or position.Responsibilities

  • Produce viewpoints on challenges and opportunities facing ATB\'s business in alignment with overall enterprise strategy, with a focus on supporting ATB\'s medium and long term strategic vision.
  • Conduct both primary and secondary research, with a focus on primary research, on factors which could impact ATB, including but not limited to technology, geopolitical, and economic trends, with the intent of identifying and monitoring strategically relevant trends
  • Actively curate research and prioritize / deprioritize topics, based on likelihood and magnitude of impact to ATB, to ensure clear focus throughout the strategy team and more broadly throughout ATB
  • Partner closely with CFO portfolio leadership and broader ATB leadership to ensure that external-facing research inputs are turned into actionable, internal-facing strategic viewpoints and decisions that prompt action throughout ATB, if required
  • Lead & facilitate discussions seeking alignment of key stakeholders across ATB on ATB\'s strategic positioning.
  • Collaborate with other business units and stakeholders at ATB on topics of impact, to ensure continuous alignment on those topics of impact
  • Maintain a real-time view of projects / programs / products both internally and and externally that could change the magnitude or impact of a topic on ATB or Alberta, and use that information to regularly revisit decisions on magnitude or impact
  • Author & contribute to executive- and board-ready presentations and other material based on the above responsibilities on a regular basis, and deliver those presentations to senior audiences either individually or as part of a team
  • Actively contribute to enterprise strategy education at ATB via discussions and presentations on the above topics with other ATBers, as opportunities arise
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in consulting or corporate strategy. Experience in the Financial Services industry is strongly preferred.
  • Robust experience in strategy generation, analysis, and primary research.
  • Extensive experience developing and conducting presentations to senior-level audiences.
  • Experience with program and project design as well as the end to end transformation life-cycle of a financial services institution.
  • Experience working with stakeholders across an organization to find consensus strongly preferred.
