The Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) is part of Ontario's health and safety system, which includes the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD), the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and six health and safety associations. POSITION SUMMARY:



Reporting to the Vice President, Stakeholder & Public Relations, the Director of Stakeholder and Client Engagement leads stakeholder relationships and operational activities, ensuring alignment with IHSA's strategic goals and regulatory compliance. The role includes building strategic alliances, providing guidance and oversight of network committees and councils, directing projects, facilitating research, and supporting the development and promotion of IHSA programs, products and services. The Director engages stakeholders in IHSA's prevention initiatives, fostering collaboration while also advancing the adoption and promotion of IHSA programs and services. Responsibilities also encompass managing staff and financial resources, improving quality and risk management processes, and strengthening IHSA's influence with key industry stakeholders and government bodies, including Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD), Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) the Office of the Chief Coroner's (OCC) and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).

RESPONSIBILITIES:



Stakeholder Relationship Management:



Leads and cultivates stakeholder engagements, builds strategic alliances, develops collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, stays current on industry best practices and legislative changes, manages sensitive issues, and represents IHSA at industry events to enhance the Association's image and influence.

Planning & Project Management:



Leads and executes various projects and initiatives for the division and the Association as assigned, this includes the development of project management strategies, ensuring alignment with Department and IHSA goals, setting staff objectives, monitoring progress, managing deliverables, tracking performance, and reporting metrics to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes and effective responses to emerging issues and trends.

Operations Management:



Leads and provides oversight to ensure effective stakeholder committee and council operations. The role involves evaluating stakeholder feedback, identifying sector specific health and safety enhancements, and building strategic alliances. Additionally, it encompasses managing meetings, directing committee recommendations to relevant agencies, promoting IHSA's profile and services, and providing expert advice while overseeing outreach projects to ensure strategic alignment.

Quality & Risk Management:



Develops processes to improve client/stakeholder relationships within the network, evaluates industry trends, recommends solutions, implements the adoption of new methodologies, and liaises with program and/or product and resource development to ensure network-related products are updated, relevant, accurate, and align with regulatory compliance and the Associations brand and mission.

Staff & Financial Management:



Direct and assign staff activities and performance within the division, this includes managing performance, career development and succession planning for the department, participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new hires within the department, and manages departmental budgets and expenditures to ensure effective staff management and cost efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Completion of undergraduate degree in business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience with a strong business acumen in the sectors IHSA serves required. 8-10 years of progressive operations, stakeholder engagement and people/project management experience required. A minimum of 5 years direct industry construction experience required. A valid Ontario Driver's license with the ability to travel extensively required. First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) certifications required. Experience and knowledge of project management principles including effectively coordinating and planning multiple projects, executing multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently while working with conflicting priorities ensuring on time delivery required. Advanced knowledge of health and safety management systems, programs, services and current legislation as applicable to IHSA industries required. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) accreditation, Risk Management Certification, and ISO Certification considered an asset. Industry-related skilled trade designation, license, or certification (e.g., Health and Safety or Professional Certificate in the SME area) considered an asset. Advanced knowledge and experience with the infrastructure health and safety industry, and health and safety system partners an asset. Experience conducting and overseeing risk assessments for a variety of hazards and develop control strategies an asset. Knowledge of scientific and/or engineering principles, accepted research protocol, methodology and reporting, and statistics an asset. Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) with advanced typing or note taking skills an asset. 75% minimum interview score required for consideration.
