About Our Opportunity

The Disability Support Program (DSP) in Nova Scotia is hiring for the role of Director, Service Delivery. In this role, you\'ll have a direct impact on fostering positive change and enhancing the well-being of our communities. You will provide province wide leadership, oversight and guidance to the existing DSP program and human resource functions and hold operational and functional accountability.

You will be entrusted with providing strategic direction and executive leadership for the delivery of current disability support programs and supporting the transition to the new service delivery model as required by the legally binding , addressing systemic discrimination against persons with disabilities. You will play a crucial role in shaping the province\'s disability services landscape.

Primary Accountabilities

The Director, Service Delivery, is an integral part of the senior leadership team, contributing to the department\'s overall success and impact on the community. You\'ll provide oversight and guidance to the Disability Support Program province wide and human resource functions within the Department.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership, oversight and guidance to the Disability Support Program province wide with a large and diverse staff.
  • Management of human and financial resources including effective recruiting, hiring and training that meets the needs of the Department\'s mandate, government policy, diversity plans
  • DSP service delivery that is consistent province wide and adheres to program and corporate legislation, policy, and standards
As a change management guru and cultural transformer, you will navigate complex service environments, champion a person-centred approach, and work towards building inclusive communities. This role goes beyond traditional expectations, requiring you to be an advocate for persons with disabilities within communities across Nova Scotia. You will create and passionately champion a common purpose for a system that prioritizes inclusivity and equal access to services for people with disabilities. Qualifications and Experience

You have several years of leadership experience within disability services or social services-based programs. While a completed degree in social sciences, public administration, or management is preferred, equivalent training and experience will be considered.

You demonstrate the following qualities including:
  • Experience leading large teams of professionals across multiple locations and remotely.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a people-centred approach in all aspects of work.
  • An ability to forge strong relationships of trust and collaboration across diverse groups and communities.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating social service strategies, including program and policy development.
  • Well-developed strategic management, systems change, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, showcasing the ability to communicate clearly with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and empathy.
  • Proven understanding of the complex and challenging circumstances faced by individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions, with an ability to apply this understanding to service models and approaches.
Highly desirable assets include:
  • Familiarity with government decision-making processes.
  • Familiarity with Disability Support Programs, Employment Support and Income Assistance, Child Welfare.
  • Experience working with Indigenous and other equity-seeking communities.

Working Conditions

Most of your work is in a central office environment with frequently required travel to various locations across the province, including government offices, DSP program sites, and healthcare facilities. This role places considerable mental pressure on the individual, requiring high personal resiliency to meet emotional demands. The Director will navigate complex situations, working with individuals through potentially emotional or stressful times in their lives. This dynamic working environment underscores the importance of adaptability and emotional resilience.

Flexibility is required given the demands of this role which may require working outside of regular business hours.

Additional Information

You must have a valid driver\'s license and access to reliable transportation.

The successful incumbent\'s worksite location will be determined at the time of the offer.

This is a term employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2026.

Pay Grade: EC 14

Salary Range: $4,309.95 - $5,387.44 Bi-Weekly
