In 1993, the M\xc3\xa9tis Nation of Ontario (MNO) was established through the will of M\xc3\xa9tis people and M\xc3\xa9tis communities coming together throughout Ontario to create a M\xc3\xa9tis-specific governance structure and vision, encapsulated in the Statement of Prime Purpose. Today, the M\xc3\xa9tis Nation of Ontario has built a province-wide governance structure which includes: an objectively verifiable, centralized registry of over 30,000 M\xc3\xa9tis citizens; 31 Chartered Community Councils across the province which represent M\xc3\xa9tis citizens at the local level; a provincial governing body that is elected by ballot box every four years; an Annual General Assembly where regional and provincial M\xc3\xa9tis leaders are required to report back to M\xc3\xa9tis citizens yearly between elections; a charitable foundation which promotes and support M\xc3\xa9tis culture and heritage (M\xc3\xa9tis Nation of Ontario Cultural Commission); an Indigenous financial institution and an economic development arm (M\xc3\xa9tis Infinity Bureaucratic Inc).

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director, Rights, Research and Policy is a member of the senior management team and contributes to the MNO\'s overall strategic direction. The Director provides senior-level managerial expertise and strategic advice and oversees a team of policy advisors, research advisors, and way of life coordinators and advisors. This team oversees a wide range of functions, working collaboratively and cross-Branch to support.

The ideal candidate brings proven experience developing Rights, Research and Policy initiatives. Politically astute, you are a strong, thoughtful communicator with a collaborative style. Your deep and broad experience in M\xc3\xa9tis relations complements your passion for advancing the rights of M\xc3\xa9tis communities within Ontario. Experience working in sensitive, highly political environments has developed your communication skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
