The Opportunity:

This role will lead enterprise-wide facilities and real estate services across Canada, shaping environments that support productivity and innovation. Collaborate with client groups to develop strategies that align with business goals and create future-ready work environments.
This is a hybrid role with flexible onsite expectations, typically 1 to 2 days per week. New employees are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 times a week during their first three months to support onboarding and collaboration. #LI-HYBRID
About The Role:
Project & Construction Management:

  • Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of all construction and renovation projects across Symcor facilities.
  • Develop business cases for capital projects and secure executive approvals.
  • Manage internal and external resources, including RFPs, contracts, and project plans.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
Facility Operations:
  • Oversee building systems (HVAC, electrical, critical systems) and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Approve and direct site improvements, from design to execution.
  • Manage facility teams across all locations, ensuring high standards in health & safety, security, space, and asset management.
  • Maintain mission-critical environments to ensure 100% uptime.
  • Manage the integration of an ESG program into facility management practice to minimize the facilities impact on the environment.
Real Estate Strategy & Leasing:
  • Develop and execute Symcor's real estate strategy across all facilities.
  • Lead lease negotiations and manage all leasing transactions.
  • Ensure accuracy in documentation, monitor key lease terms, and maintain strong landlord relationships.
Budget Oversight:
  • Prepare and manage a $22M premises and $5M capital budget.
  • Approve service contracts, vendor proposals, and ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure timely processing of invoices and year-end financials.
People Leadership:
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of managers, trades, and contractors.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Set strategic goals, coach team members, and support career development.
Health & Safety:
  • Champion Symcor's Health & Safety Program and ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Oversee training, inspections, emergency preparedness, and government reporting.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure all facilities and real estate programs meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage audit responses and maintain documentation for critical environments.
What You Need to Succeed:
Education:
  • Post-secondary degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional designations such as FMA, RPA, or CFM are considered assets.
Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate real estate and facilities management.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale projects and managing multi-site operations.
  • Bilingual (French and English) would be an asset.
Skill requirements:
  • Deep knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and space planning.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing large budgets and vendor contracts.
  • Knowledge of current building, fire, health and safety codes and related legislation.
  • Knowledge of construction procedures and practices, and related architectural, mechanical and electrical building systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management, external authorities, and industry professionals.
  • Provide support for the preparation and update of the CADD (Computer Aided Design Drafting) Drawing Database.
