Job Title Director, RBC PayEdge Technology and Transformation
What is the opportunity?
RBC is the leader in Business Markets in Canada and has leading market share in Deposits, Foreign Exchange and all payment volumes. It is one of RBCs largest businesses with over $150 Billion in deposits and NIAT contribution in excess of $600 MM. RBC PayEdge a B2B A/P and A/R automation solution is a critical differentiator in the marketplace.
The Director, RBC PayEdge Technology and Transformation, is accountable for managing and implementing the PayEdge production and platform engineering strategy in ecosystems/programs under control. You will develop and oversee governance for the group and work with executive leadership to provide the structure and definition to effectively manage the quality engineering organization.
What will you do?
Drive the overall PayEdge strategy within Commercial Payments and Transformation
Own the development of the build roadmap and lead the team through execution
Set the direction and vision for the PayEdge DevOps team, promoting collaboration and partnering with other functional teams across the organization
Responsible for overall quality of functional and non-functional deliverables
Provide expertise, direction, coaching and development to build the team capability
Grow adoption of new technologies within PayEdge by providing thought leadership and out of the box thinking to ensure the best development strategies/tools and automation practices are used
Partner with Application Development Directors to integrate quality engineering mindset/concepts within the DevOps framework/pipeline
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related (technical) degree/diploma, and/or related breadth of experience
5 or more years of related experience in application design engineering or delivery
Extensive experience (5 or more) in a QA/test environment with a focus on technical testing strategies in a variety of environments (cloud, distributed and mainframe, business workflows and services/APIs, databases)
3 or more years of people management experience
Expert knowledge of industry practices, with focus on Agile and DevOps environments
Excellent communication skills and effective negotiation skills
Vendor management/3rd party relationship management experience
Nice to have:
Strong payments business domain knowledge
Leadership experience in the context of Application Development and test teams
Demonstrated experience in leading test case design to provide efficient optimal coverage through unit test, component/service based tests and complex real life test scenarios
Hands-on experience in a variety of test automation tools and script development using a variety of languages (e.g., Perl, Python, Bash, etc.)
Experience as a developer/past programming experience (e.g., Java, C, SQL DB querying)
Experience with Software Quality Models
