Overview: The Director, Quality Operations is directly responsible for the quality of cannabis and cannabis products throughout the growth, harvesting, processing, and packaging stages. The Director, Quality Operations will function in the capacity of Quality Assurance Person (QAP) and leader of the Quality Operations team. Primary responsibilities include assuring quality products and processes by enforcing Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and other relevant standards; implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance overall product quality, align with company objectives, and educate and train employees concerning their responsibilities within a Health Canada licensed commercial facility. By employing tools such as an electronic Quality Management System (eQMS) the Director, Quality Operations will champion the cause of Quality while pursuing corporate objectives.Scope of Role: Ensures that all site practices align with applicable standards (ex. GPP, GDP, GACP, ICann G.A.P, etc.) Ensures that Sundial processes are aligned with producing superior quality products that delight our customers Hosts Health Canada Inspections and participates as the Subject Matter Expert on Quality and Operational controls Is the primary point of contact for addressing audit questions and ensuring SME are prepared to address auditor questions Responsible for addressing audit observations and working with Director, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs to prepare written responses Leads efforts to improve Quality and Operational processes to improve performance metrics Develops and delivers the education curriculum for training Sundial Quality teams and Operational teams Ensures the highest level of compliance with good documentation practices (GDP) throughout the facility Establishes and delivers Quality metrics designed to demonstrate the status of product Quality (Annual product Review)) Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintains and improves product quality by enforcing quality policies and procedures and government requirements; completing product, company, and system audits; investigating customer complaints Develops and approves Preventive Control Plans (PCPs) by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventative measures; establishes critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures Provides oversight of performance for all Quality Operations personnel Maintains quality staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees Conducts activities to assist in qualifying new packaging suppliers Follow up on observations from audits and inspections and ensure compliance with standards Other duties as assignedAuthorityAll authority required to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position are granted to the Director, Quality Assurance. With the exception of the President, Responsible Person (RP) and the Vice President of Quality Assurance and Regulatory, no other position can abridge or rescind the authority of the Director, Quality Assurance to execute the duties contained in this .Knowledge and Experience: Has 5-8 years of direct experience in a Quality Assurance role, leading a team of professionals in a managerial capacity Must possess demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills (English) Has a solid understanding of cannabis operations including cultivation, dry cannabis processing, extraction and extract packaging for both inhaled and ingested products Is familiar with the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and all applicable guidelines Must possess a bachelor's degree or higher in a scientific discipline from a North American Institution Solid team player who promotes a culture of professionalism, integrity, quality and teamwork Strong business acumen with ability to manage to budgets and financial targets Knows how to establish excellent relationships with key stakeholders Experience in writing reports and presentations to leadership and stakeholders Solid background and understanding of information systems that are key to operations Proven experience in leading teams and managing performance development Knowledge of Occupational Health requirements for operation Demonstrated ability to lead and influence the thinking and actions of others Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Must possess or be eligible to successfully obtain Health Canada's Security Clearance under the Cannabis Act and function as QAP Solid project and time management skillsJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSchedule:
