THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Platform team defines, designs, and delivers the TechInsights Platform, a cloud-based content system that is the central product of our business. We are seeking a Director, Quality Assurance (QA) that will own our QA strategy, drive the organization to evolve its view of quality, and ensure the scalability, stability, and performance of the TechInsights Platform.

You will partner with the Engineering, Development, Product Management, Design, Architecture, Dev Ops, Customer Operations, and Publishing teams. Success in this role will require a thought leader who will empower these and other teams to achieve their individual goals while aligning them to the overall strategy, and building a culture of quality.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Bring change while meeting existing commitments
• Define a QA strategy, update it quarterly, and present it to senior leadership
• Establish quality-focused processes both within your group and adjacent groups such as Engineering, Development, Product Management, Design, Dev Ops, and Architecture, working with other leaders
• Establish a set of core quality metrics able to demonstrate the performance of internal and external teams to senior leadership, and guide improvements across the Platform group
• Act as the Platform team\xe2\x80\x99s lead proponent of a culture of quality within TechInsights
• Define, propose, implement, and improve a test automation strategy
• Define, propose, implement, and improve a performance and scaling test strategy
• Improve and own the defect triage process
• Plan and manage QA operations within budget and aligned with the Platform Roadmap and the Platform Strategy
• Manage and mentor local and remote team members, enabling high performance through coaching, regular feedback, and learning opportunities

WHAT YOU HAVE

• A bias for action, and an appetite for risk
• Ability to \xe2\x80\x9ccall it like it is\xe2\x80\x9d in a professional manner, and highlight operational issues so they can be addressed openly
• Ability to commit and be measured against your commitments
• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in software or electronics or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years experience in people management and leadership
• 10+ years experience in software QA, including both UI-heavy and backend-heavy systems
• 7+ years experience in QA of SaaS, cloud, or similar, with good exposure to QA of such systems running at large scale (200K+ monthly active users or devices, or large transaction volumes)
• 7+ years experience in QA where data security and privacy were key factors
• 5+ years experience working with systems where uptime was committed and met at three nines or higher
• 3+ years experience with mobile applications on both iOS and Android
• 7+ years experience with Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement test automation strategies from scratch
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement performance testing strategies from scratch
• Demonstrated ability to manage remote teams
• Demonstrated ability to set up and monitor outsourced QA teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation to senior leadership
