What you\'ll be doing

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Banking, Wealth and Corporate Controller, the Director, Personal and Business Banking Controller (the \xe2\x80\x9cPBB Controller\xe2\x80\x9d) supports the PBB & Simplii strategic business units by providing leadership and coaching to a team of finance professionals to deliver on accurate and timely financial results used for statutory, regulatory and management reporting for these business units. The PBB Controller is a trusted advisor and working group member on strategic finance projects and business initiatives. The PBB Controller steers the team to achieve continuous improvements and operational excellence. The PBB Controller works closely with Finance stakeholders and other cross-functional groups to execute on this mandate.

Relationship building - Establish strong relationships and deliver on PBB & Simplii LOB business decision support, accounting guidance, investigative analysis.

Control focused - Ensure compliance with accounting standards and effective financial process controls.

Talent development - Lead and develop a highly skilled progressive accounting team including oversight of an offshore managed service team.

General ledger ownership - Oversee month end close of the finance general ledger, explanation of PBB & Simplii LOB financial results, submission of financial reporting & disclosures deliverables and review of quarterly Board materials.

Operational excellence - Drive continuous improvements that strengthen controls to manage financial reporting risks within risk appetite, streamline finance operational processes and increase productivity across the team

Deliver on purpose - Affect teamwork across finance and cross-functional teams with CIBC purpose focus and behaviours

Who you are

You are a caring and accountable leader. You\xe2\x80\x99re passionate about developing and growing team members abilities. You have experience providing coaching and hands on support to meet team goals.

You can demonstrate 10+ years relevant work experience in complex financial services organizations. It\xe2\x80\x99s an asset if you have comprehensive knowledge of banking products and services, along developing processes and controls. Strong knowledge of IFRS is also considered an asset, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical guidance into business terms and implications.

You\xe2\x80\x99re a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in a CPA designation or equivalent.
