The Position



We are looking for a seasoned Human Resource professional who has a passion for nurturing and supporting the development of engaged teams.

The Director, People Resources will be the primary point of contact for all HR matters and a strategic business partner responsible for leading and managing all HR functions within the hotel. This role oversees talent acquisition, team member relations, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, health & safety and compliance. This position will also provide some support to the other hotels under the Mairet Hotels portfolio.

The Job



Leadership & Strategy



Partner with the General Manager and Executive Team on organizational planning, culture, and business priorities. Analyze HR metrics and provide recommendations for improvement. Act as a champion for diversity, equity, inclusion and positive workplace culture. Represent HR during audits, budget planning, brand inspections and reviews.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding



Lead recruitment strategies to attract top hospitality talent. Oversee the full hiring process - job postings, interviews, selection, reference checks, and offers. Ensure a smooth and engaging onboarding experience for all new team members. Collaborate with department heads to anticipate staffing needs and succession planning. Work with hiring managers to create/update job descriptions periodically.

Team Member Relations & Engagement



Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and team members on HR matters. Handle team member concerns, conflicts, performance issues, and workplace investigations. Promote a respectful, inclusive, and service-focused culture. Develop and lead engagement programs, team events, recognition initiatives, and communication strategies. Establish strong relationships with managers and team members.

Performance Management and Training & Development



Guide managers through performance evaluations, coaching and performance improvement plans. Support and advice manager on conflict resolution. Ensure accountability and consistency across departments. Support leaders with goal setting and professional development plans. Assess training needs and implement programs to enhance skills, service standards, and leadership capabilities. Oversee mandatory training including WHMIS, First Aid, H&S, emergency procedures and Hilton brand standards. Support career development and succession planning initiatives.

Compliance & Health & Safety



Support and advise managers on HR best practices, compliance with BC Employment Standards, hotel policies, and regulatory requirements. Oversee Occupational Health & Safety programs including audits, training, WorkSafe BC claims investigations and reporting. Co-Chair and support the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and emergency response planning. Maintain up-to-date HR policies and Team Member handbooks.

Benefits & HR Administration



Manage benefits enrollment, vacation tracking and assist with payroll and Hilton HRIS management. Provide suggestions for compensation programs in alignment with hotel policies and market standards. Manage leaves of absence, accommodations and return-to-work processes. Other duties as assigned to support operational needs and team objectives.

Job Requirements



Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resource Leadership. Experience leading high performance teams. Degree or diploma in related field; or equivalent preferred. Ability to work well both collaboratively and independently. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent organizational, presentation, and time management skills. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel. Previous hospitality experience is an asset.

Wage: $90,000 - 100,000
