ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY




Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Operations Director provides leadership and oversight to operational teams while ensuring seamless production, best in in class customer service, procurement, shop safety and employee satisfaction.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES



Operational Effectiveness



Develop and lead a culture of safety across the manufacturing and assembly operations. Oversee successful quality programs to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers' expectations. Implement strategies in alignment with initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus. Review and develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets. Increase production, asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining high quality standards. Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts. Lead ERM development and implementation for Operations Organization. Delegate and assign work tasks to production staff to achieve set manufacturing targets. Attend Joint Health Safety Committee Meetings and commit to shop safety.

Budgeting & Forecasting



Direct preparation of cost control reports, cost estimates, workforce, and facilities requirements. Forecast, formulate, and install standard manufacturing practices based on comparative studies of methods, costs, and production figures. Establish, approve, and monitor manufacturing and related budget. Utilize cost-benefit analytical techniques to improve operational efficiency.

Inventory Control



Maintain and control inventory of materials and consumables. Work across the organization and lead the improvement of supplier relationships. Responsible for safety, production output, product quality, cost, and on-time shipping.

Recruitment & Performance Management



Oversee the hiring and training of operations personnel to ensure a capable workforce. Conduct employee performance appraisals to identify areas of limitation to provide coaching and guidance.

REQUIREMENTS



Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business, or other related disciplines. 5-10 years successfully leading a manufacturing organization in sheet metal fabrication industry. Experience and familiarity with computer numerical control (CNC) lasers, brake presses, punch presses, welding, and assembly work. Familiarity with Millwork operations preferred. Ability to successfully lead Safety and Quality programs across the organization. Ability to lead the rollout of new ERP systems. Ability to implement LEAN manufacturing practice. Strong decision-making skills and demonstrates a sense of urgency to deliver operational excellence. Ability to successfully manage under pressure and respond to critical and or changing priorities throughout the day. Strong organizational, time management and communication skills. Knowledge of reading and interpreting sheet metal and architectural panel drawings. Required computer skills include Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, and Smart Sheet. Candidates with architectural panel fabrication is preferred.
