Director of Transportation
Winnipeg, MB

On behalf of our client, River East Transcona School Division (RETSD), we are looking for a Director of Transportation to join their dynamic team. This individual will be responsible for the management of the daily operations of the division\'s transportation system in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.

The Director of Transportation is Responsible For:

• Planning bus routes in preparation for the school year and arranging school bus pick-up and drop-off points in accordance with board policy and guidelines.
• Preparing annual budget estimates for the Transportation Department and other statistical and cost data as required.
• Approving purchase orders, payment of invoices and administering petty cash fund.
• Exercising direct supervision over a large team in the transportation department, including a mechanical shop.
• Overseeing the recruitment process for the transportation department.
• Writing and assigning work orders for the repair/maintenance of the fleet.
• Supervising a periodic inspection program on a regular, thorough, and systematic basis to anticipate trouble and prevent it from occurring by taking the necessary action to correct deficiencies.
• Annually analyzing the need for replacement and new fleet additions.
• Developing and implementing fleet safety programs and keeping a daily log of happenings, accidents, complaints, etc.
• Maintaining close liaison and cooperation with the Department of Education, school principals, parents, the public, central office, civic personnel, and department staff.

You and Your Experience:

• High school diploma is required.
• Post-secondary education in logistics is considered an asset.
• A change leader, who is capable of inspiring and energizing a team.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication abilities.
• Solid leadership experience, including proven ability to develop, coach, and mentor teams.
• Outstanding oral and written communication abilities along with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to learn and understand the routing and scheduling systems and other related software as warranted.
• A valid Manitoba driver\'s license is required. A valid Class 2 license is an asset.
