The Bethania Group is currently recruiting for a permanent, full time

Director of Therapeutic Recreation, Spiritual Wellness & Volunteer Services

to join our dedicated team at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home and Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home.

The Director of Therapeutic Recreation, Spiritual Wellness & Volunteer Services is responsible for the Quality-of-Life program and service delivery for the Residents of Bethania and Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Homes, demonstrating leadership in the commitment to service excellence and continuous quality improvement. The recreation and spiritual needs of the population must be addressed by providing services, which best meet these assessed needs. The Director of Therapeutic Recreation, Spiritual Wellness & Volunteer Services is responsible for the coordination of Therapeutic Recreation, Spiritual Wellness, Massage Therapy, Music Therapy, Haircare, for the Residents of Bethania and Pembina Place Personal Care Homes. The position functions in a manner consistent with and supports the Mission, Vision, and values of the Bethania Group. We may consider an underfill assignment of 2 years to obtain the necessary qualifications of this role.

Qualifications



Completion of a recognized Degree/Diploma with an emphasis on Therapeutic Recreation College Certificate in Volunteer Management is an asset Minimum of three years supervisory experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities



Knowledge of human resource management and leadership Knowledge, understanding and preparation of departmental budget Knowledge of collective agreements and applications Knowledge that is equivalent to or exceeds the knowledge base of Recreation Therapy Knowledge of volunteer management, as required skills Knowledge of Software applications such as Better Impact for Volunteer Management an asset Proven management skills and effective utilization of resources. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, residents, and their families. Committed to continuing professional development Ability to work with external organizations and stakeholders Ability to multitask Time consciousness and the ability to respond swiftly in a crisis and objectively handles difficult situations

Major Responsibilities



Provide Leadership to the Therapeutic Recreation staff, chaplains, and volunteers Coordinate Massage Therapy, Music Therapy and Haircare services to ensure the continuity and coordination of services Coordinate and integrate ongoing evaluation of programs and services and communicate to relevant parties. Facilitate development of Therapeutic Recreation & Spiritual Wellness policies and procedures Ensure staff adhere to the Manitoba Health standards and other policies and procedures such as Occupation Health and Safety regulations, Bethania Group Mission, Vision, and Values Develop and maintain job descriptions and routines for staff. Facilitate cooperative relationships with other departments and local organizations Liaise with other managers and coordinators with respect to professional issues Prepare, monitor, analyze and the budget for department, including staffing and capital equipment's Participate in the organization's management activities and ensure departmental continuous quality improvement initiatives are maintained Plan, coordinate and collaborate with other departments as required. Support and direct staff, families, and volunteers Ability to plan, coordinate and manage departmental priorities. Volunteer Management - recruit, screen, orient, educate, recognize, and maintain Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit volunteers Train staff to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers Establish and implement a process for evaluating the contribution of individual volunteers Plan and implement formal and informal volunteer recognition activities to recognize the contribution of volunteers to the organization Evaluate the risks associated with each volunteer position and take appropriate action to control the risks associated with the program or service

Workplace Safety and health



Provides a safe environment by ensuring adherences to Workplace Safety and Health regulations and Policies, Infection Control Guidelines, WHMIS, and Safe Work Procedures. Immediately investigates and recommends corrective action on any unsafe acts, work conditions, incidents, near misses, injuries, or illnesses. Demonstrates understanding of role and responsibilities in fire prevention and disaster preparedness and participates in safety and health training programs including the health facility's Fire, Disaster, and evacuation Plan.
Successful candidates are required to provide a current (within 12 months) Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
