JOB SUMMARY





The Director of Services and Human Resources (DSHR) is critical to helping HTH advance its organizational objectives. The DSHR is a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for leading human resource functions and ensuring a feminist and harm reduction approach is taken to achieve service excellence across all programs. This role provides strategic direction, operational leadership and collaborative support to HTH employees while fostering a workplace rooted in collective care. The role is essential to fostering equity, diversity and belonging at HTH for all staff. The Director will oversee human resource management, optimize program and service delivery, and represent the organization in community partnerships and public forums as needed.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



HUMAN RESOURCES





Actively participate in strategic planning processes to define and set strategy for the organization. Lead organizational culture and values initiatives; ensuring all employees and leaders are aligned with the core behaviours required to drive the business strategy. Support the development and implement an organizational strategy for collective care, based in principles of diversity, equity and belonging. Manage human resource issues through a feminist lens and in alignment with organizational values. Lead performance management strategies, including performance appraisals and supervisor workplans. Foster employee appreciation and engagement through recognition initiatives, staff meetings, and "drop-in" office hours. Including taking a lead role in organizing the annual staff appreciation BBQ and other events. Maintain compliance with all relevant employment legislation (e.g., Employment Standards Act) and organizational policies. Oversee full employee and student lifecycle processes including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and leave management. Support supervisors with coaching, human resource guidance, and capacity building. Identify staffing gaps and efficiencies to ensure adequate staffing structures are in place within the organization. Arrange and coordinate all soft skills training for staff.



PROGRAM AND SERVICE DELIVERY




Support service delivery across all programs, ensuring quality and consistency. Develop, review, and optimize service delivery tools, process maps, and organizational workflows, Ensure integration of key organizational philosophies into program design and delivery, inclusive of harm reduction, feminism and the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework Create and maintain service maps to strengthen inter-agency referrals and service navigation for women in HTH programs. Operate within and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation including Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related accessibility best practices, and all relevant occupational health and safety legislation. Oversee and coordinate of special service related projects and successful grants, including the Canadian Armed Forces grant Ensure compliance with the Child welfare/VAW agreement and other sector-specific requirements. Ensure compliance with funder regulations across all programs. Identify and pursue opportunities for growth of HTHs programs and services.



SOCIAL ENTERPRISE




Support in the articulation and implementation of OG's farm optimization strategy Support in the strategic planning and day-to-day business activities of OG Provide leadership on sales planning at OG Identify opportunities to expand OG's reach in alignment with its business plan.



COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP




Actively contribute to the senior leadership team in setting organizational priorities, strategy, and culture. Represent the organization at public speaking engagements, community activities, and collaborative community tables. Support in the organization of HTH's Townhall meetings. Support in the development of HTH's annual workplans Build and sustain strong relationships with community partners to enhance program impact. Support in the planning and execution of organizational events and activities as needed. Support with other tasks as requested by the Executive Director Integrate an intersectional feminist framework and harm reduction philosophy into all decision making.



FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT




Approve program-related expenditures in accordance with organizational budget and HTH's policies and procedures. Recommend future expenditures and/or opportunities for cost savings. Participate in quarterly financial overview meetings. In the absence of the Executive Director, ensure contractual obligations to funders are met.



QUALIFICATIONS



Education and experience




Bachelor's degree in social work, feminist studies or related field, a Master's degree is preferred A minimum of 10 years of charitable sector experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position. Preference will be given to individuals who are registered with CRPO. Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or similar is considered an asset.



Knowledge/Skills/Abilities




Well-developed coaching and leadership skills, both on a formal and informal basis. Ability to lead, foster and maintain a positive, cooperative working environment. Thorough working knowledge of Human Resources policies, programs, and guidelines, the Employment Standards Act, and other applicable employment-related legislation. Experience leading change management initiatives. Strong understanding of, and experience in, performance management. Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution. Non-violent communication training or restorative justice training is considered an asset. Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills. Tact, sound judgment and multi-tasking ability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working in the non-profit and social services sector and/or social enterprise. Experience processing payroll is considered an asset. Knowledge of and commitment to intersectional feminist and harm reduction. Knowledge of issues and complexities contained within the violence against women framework is considered an asset. Ability to work independently and participate as a team member. Strong information technical and word processing skills. Francophone/bilingual preferred.

Working Conditions/Requirements




Office environment but may include non-standard workplaces, i.e. public venues. Standard work week with flexibility to work evenings, weekend and overtime/flex hours to accommodate position activities and requirements. Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license and insurance. Complete Vulnerable Sector Check, in compliance with organizational policy. Ability to carry supplies and equipment related to public relations activities; generally, not in excess of 20 pounds. Ability to sit or stand for varying periods of time. Vaccination against COVID-19.

Identifies and understands identities of gender, sex, sexual orientation, class, race, ethnicity, religion or spirituality, immigration status, and ability. Understands the complexity of these identities and connects these social locations to the multi-layered experiences of power, privilege and oppression, and how various social norms give or diminish power. Understands how oppression contributes to systemic injustice and social inequality. Demonstrates a strong understanding of all forms of gender-based violence. Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education as it relates to feminism and violence against women.



Integrated Harm Reduction Philosophy




Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of harm reduction principles as an evidence-based framework. Understands use, effects and impacts of substances and is able to communicate both practical and functional aspects of harm reduction practices to the community. Meets women "where they are at" with a non-judgmental approach. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning re: trends, strategies, legislation etc.



Compensation

: $45.67 - $51.00 per hour (based on experience).
