Position Overview:




Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Health and Wellness is the senior leader responsible for the overall planning, directing, monitoring and evaluation of community-based health programs and services delivered to First Nation communities in the City and District of Thunder Bay and children in the care of Dilico Anishinabek Family Care (Dilico). The Director of Health and Wellness is also responsible for directing the management of all the Dilico Health and Wellness teams.


This includes overseeing and ensuring the delivery of responsive, accessible, and quality service delivery in the areas of community health, infant/child development, home and community care, and primary health care.


They must ensure programs and services are delivered in accordance to the following legislative requirements: Nursing Act, Regulated Health Professionals Act, Long Term Care Act, 1994, Children's Mental Health Act, Child and Family Services Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act; they must ensure service delivery and reporting requirements are met for the following funding agreements: Health Transfer Agreement - First Nation and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB), Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative Agreement - FNIHB, Healthy Babies Healthy Children Agreement - Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy, Home and Community Care Agreement - FNIHB, Community Support Service Agreement - Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOH/LTC), Service descriptions for Children's age 0/6 Mental Health, age 0/6 Infant Development and age 0/6 Clinical Lead - Ministry of Child, Community and Social Services, Nurse Practitioner Agreement - MOH/LTC.

Qualifications and Requirements:



A graduate degree in Health Administration or Public Health; an under graduate degree in health, mental health or addictions administrative field from a recognized Canadian University with five (5) years of management experience. First Nations Health Manager designation and/or CCHL designation. This position will require the ability to work flexible hours and travel out of town. Must havethe ability to work shift work, flexible hours. A valid Class "G" Driver's license, access to a reliable personal vehicle. A criminal records check.
