Position Summary



The

Director of Research, Development, and Quality

leads the innovation, material science, and quality functions across Archifibe Inc. and its EzoBord product line. This role is responsible for driving new product development, advancing sustainable material technologies, and ensuring product performance and consistency through robust quality systems. The position bridges

design, engineering, and operations

, ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of

acoustic performance, sustainability, and manufacturability

Key Responsibilities



1. Research & Development Leadership



Develop and execute the company's R&D strategy aligned with long-term growth, sustainability, and market leadership objectives. Lead concept-to-commercialization processes for new acoustic and architectural products, including material formulation, design engineering, prototyping, and testing. Drive innovation in polyester-based materials, thermoforming technologies, and circular manufacturing systems. Manage acoustic, mechanical, and fire testing programs to validate product performance and regulatory compliance. Partner with marketing, design, and operations to translate market needs into product innovations that align with EzoBord's design and sustainability ethos. Oversee intellectual property development, patent filings, and technical documentation.

2. Quality Management & Systems



Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with relevant standards. Establish and monitor quality assurance procedures for raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods. Analyze production data to identify quality trends and lead root cause/corrective action (RCA/CAPA) initiatives. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure consistency in PET fiber quality, recyclability, and material performance. Lead internal and external audits, product certifications and testing including but not limited to Acoustic performance, Fire testing, VOC testing, EPD, HPD, and Declare certification. Manage customer feedback, non-conformance investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Operational Integration & Cross-Functional Leadership



Work closely with operations, engineering, and production to ensure R&D outputs are scalable and manufacturable at commercial levels. Lead teams of engineers, designers, and quality inspectors to achieve cross-departmental alignment. Foster a culture of innovation and quality excellence throughout the organization. Provide training and mentorship on quality standards, sustainability practices, and design thinking principles.

Qualifications



Master's degree in related field(s) including

Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or Chemical Engineering

, or related discipline (Ph.D. an asset). Minimum

8+ years

of progressive experience in R&D, product development, or quality leadership within

building materials, textiles, or polymer-based manufacturing

industries. Proven track record of successfully bringing new products to market. Strong understanding of

QMS systems

,

acoustic material testing

, and

sustainable material innovation

. Experience with

thermoforming

,

PET processing

, and

product certification

programs. Exceptional analytical, project management, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational improvement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)



New product introduction rate and time-to-market. Customer satisfaction and product performance metrics. Defect rate reduction and audit performance. Supplier quality performance and consistency. Innovation milestones and patent filings. Sustainability achievements (e.g., recycled content utilization, waste reduction).
