Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on

Director of Quality Management (DQM)

to lead our food safety and quality programs. Reporting directly to the Head of Innovation & Governance, the Director will be responsible for building, implementing, and continuously improving Brunswick Bierworks' quality management systems. This role requires a leader who not only brings strategic expertise but is also ready to roll up their sleeves -- developing programs, writing policies, and ensuring flawless execution across every stage of production.

This is a leadership position, suited for someone with strong technical expertise, people leadership skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Strategy



Lead the development and execution of Brunswick's Food Safety, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance programs.

Personally design, draft, and implement new programs, policies, and procedures--ensuring compliance, innovation, and efficiency.

Establish long-term quality strategies aligned with company growth while ensuring immediate, hands-on execution.

Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Compliance & Technical Excellence



Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and certifications (e.g., SFCR, FSMA, HACCP, FSSC, COR, Organic, Kosher, NGPV, GFCO).

Take ownership of internal audits, corrective action plans, and certification processes, personally driving improvements and program updates.

Regularly review and update HACCP plans, food safety risk assessments, SOPs, and quality documentation.

Operations & Analytics



Lead and conduct laboratory testing and analysis for microbiological, sensory, and chemical parameters.

Review and validate ingredient specifications, production processes, and new product recipes for food safety risks.

Utilize advanced Excel and data analysis tools to monitor KPIs, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.

Oversee lab proficiency testing and equipment validation, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Collaboration & Communication



Partner with R&D and operations on new product development, providing risk assessments and technical support.

Act as the quality authority in client discussions, audits, and feasibility reviews.

Report regularly to senior leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations.

Qualifications

:



University degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Biotechnology, or related field.

Valid PCQI certification.

Valid HACCP I & II certifications.

8-15 years of progressive experience in food or beverage manufacturing, with at least 4 years in leadership.

Proven track record of building and implementing food safety and quality programs from the ground up.

Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, brewing processes, and laboratory methods.

Proficiency in microbiological techniques and lab equipment operations.

Advanced Excel and strong data analysis skills.

Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

Passion for innovation, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements



Office-based with frequent walkthroughs in a production environment. Occasionally lifting up to 50L kegs during inspections or demonstrations. High attention to detail and use of sensory analysis for taste testing. Exposure to tight deadlines and shifting priorities in a dynamic industry.
Brunswick Bierworks is focusing on innovation & growing amazing brands through flawless execution. Our FSCC 22000, Organic, Gluten-free and soon Kosher certified facility is state-of-the-art, with an open concept brewery, fully automated brewhouse for production, while our 20hl pilot brewing system can be utilized for recipe development, one-off brews, and smaller batches', seasonal beers and small scale packaging, including all can formats and party keg filling. In 2022 we invested in state-of-the-art packaging equipment from Krones and filling at speeds of up to 1100 cpm.
