The Role
The Town of Hay River is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee its Public Works and Services portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Administrative Office, the Director is responsible for municipal engineering, infrastructure operations, land use planning, and asset management. The role involves managing budgets, capital projects, departmental staff, and regulatory compliance to support sustainable development and high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead infrastructure operations, engineering projects, and long-term capital planning
Oversee asset management, land development, zoning, and planning frameworks
Ensure compliance with legislation and safety standards
Manage budgets, staff development, and interdepartmental collaboration
Foster relationships with government partners, contractors, and the community
Qualifications & Experience
Post-secondary education in civil engineering, public administration, or a related field
5+ years of progressive leadership experience in municipal or infrastructure-focused roles
Expertise in infrastructure systems, asset management, and capital planning
Familiarity with municipal planning, water/wastewater systems, and contract management
Strong project management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance skills
