WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS:

We are looking for an experienced and energetic Director of Public Relations & Communications to develop and implement the internal and external communications strategy for Lynx Air. You will identify innovative strategic communication opportunities through traditional and digital media platforms to positively influence the awareness and perception of the airline and its brand. You will also develop and implement an internal communication strategy to support the development of a strong and engaged team culture.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for adapting the message to the target audience to ensure maximum impact.

The Director will report to the CEO and support her and her C-suite executives in strategic public speaking engagement opportunities to raise the profile and brand awareness of the airline across Canada. The executive will work closely with the Marketing team to develop and implement a cohesive strategy to optimize paid and earned media campaigns to raise brand awareness.

The airline industry is a high-profile industry that attracts a great deal of media attention, both good and bad. We are therefore looking for an executive who has experience in both reactive and pro-active media engagement, including crisis communication and issues management, particularly in a fast-paced consumer-facing industry.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Prepare and distribute impactful press releases for key milestones and events
  • In collaboration with the Marketing team, develop and implement a comprehensive Public Relations and Communications strategy to support Lynx Air's brand strategy and business goals
  • In collaboration with the People and Culture team, develop and implement a comprehensive Internal Communications strategy to support the development of a positive and engaged team culture
  • In collaboration with the Emergency Response team, develop a crisis communications strategy and plan
  • Identify strategic public speaking opportunities for the CEO and the C-suite executives, prepare speeches and support the executives before and during the event as required
  • Respond to, screen and pro-actively seek out, media interviews for the CEO and the C-suite which are aligned with the broader Public Relations and Communication strategy and prepare and support the executives before and during the interview as required
  • Identify and coordinate external events to support the Public Relations and Communications strategy
  • Determine KPIs to measure the effectiveness of key PR and Communication activities and events
  • Liaise with the marketing team to align all communications with the brand strategy and principles
  • Develop an effective model for issues management, with proactive and reactive communications as appropriate to protect the reputation and brand of the airline
  • Assess opportunities for sponsorships and other partnerships and manage these relationships
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers and politicians
  • Stay up to date with Public Relations and Communications industry trends and best practice
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
  • At least 5 years experience in a public relations and/or communications executive or similar role
  • BSc/BA in PR, communications, journalism or similar relevant field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation, with a talent for adapting the message to the target audience to ensure maximum impact
  • Outstanding organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Strategic thinker and analytical problem solver
  • Collaborative team player who is able to work independently as required
  • Calm and collected in a crisis
  • Agile and able to think quickly on your feet
