Director Of Programs & Services

Sarnia, ON, CA, Canada

Job Description

The Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton (ASSL) is a community-based organization providing programs and services to people living with dementia and their care partners across Sarnia-Lambton. We work in close collaboration with health and community partners to deliver high-quality, person-centred supports that improve quality of life and promote dignity, connection, and inclusion.

ASSL employs a diverse team of administrative, clinical, program, fund development, and support staff, alongside dedicated volunteers, all working together to meet the evolving needs of people affected by dementia.

We recognize the value and dignity of every individual and are committed to equitable, barrier-free employment practices. We strive to create an inclusive workplace where all people feel respected, empowered, and valued. Our values of justice and connection guide our decisions, relationships, and service delivery.

About the Role

As the Director of Programs & Services, you will be a senior leader responsible for the strategic oversight, quality, and performance of all clinical, respite, and active living programs at ASSL. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team including the Manager of Clinical Services, Manager of Respite Services, and Active Living Coordinator.

You will play a key role in translating organizational strategy into high-quality programs, strengthening system partnerships, and ensuring services are responsive, integrated, and aligned with best practices and funder requirements. This role requires a strong on-site leadership presence and the ability to manage complexity, lead change, and support organizational growth. Overtime hours are an expectation of this role, as required to meet organizational and leadership responsibilities.

What You Will Be Doing

Provide strategic and operational leadership for all ASSL programs and services, including clinical, respite, and active living/social recreation programs. Lead, support, and oversee program managers and coordinators, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure programs are delivered in compliance with legislation, professional standards, Alzheimer Society of Ontario guidelines, and organizational policies. Lead program evaluation, accreditation, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives. Collaborate with the CEO on strategic planning, organizational performance, and system-level initiatives. Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, funders, and system stakeholders to enhance coordinated dementia care. Oversee program data, performance metrics, and reporting to support decision-making and accountability. In collaboration with the CEO, contribute to budget development and financial oversight for programs and services. Support organizational resilience and leadership continuity, including acting in an executive capacity when assigned.

What You Will Bring

A post-secondary degree in Health Administration, Social Work, Nursing, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, community services, or the not-for-profit sector. Demonstrated experience leading managers, multidisciplinary teams, and complex service portfolios. Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and facilitation abilities. Experience with quality improvement, accreditation, data-informed planning, and system collaboration. A commitment to person-centred care, equity, inclusion, and best practices in dementia services. Valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
