Job Title: Director of Philanthropy

Reports to: Executive Director

Harvest House Atlantic, founded in 1999, supports homeless individuals, those struggling with substance use or mental health, and those seeking change in Greater Moncton. Serving a record 191 people nightly, we provide Emergency Shelter, Community Kitchen, Supportive Housing, and Addiction Recovery Supports, working tirelessly to break barriers and guide individuals toward stability.

Job Overview

Reporting directly to the Executive Director. The Director of Philanthropy will be responsible for the oversight of all revenue channels for Harvest House Atlantic through the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. Develop an overall strategic plan for an integrated campaign model that supports the overall mission of the organization involving all staff and volunteer leadership in the strategic development process to utilize their expertise and cultivate their support.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning and Leadership Support

• Participate as a member of the senior leadership team and provide consultation on all philanthropy related issues.
• Develop strategies and setting goals to hit revenue targets.
• Develop and implement strategies to identify and incorporate new donors in the campaign to enlarge the donor base.
• Assist in brainstorming and creating new methods to raise funds for the organization.
• Oversee the performance of events and other fundraising activities for effectiveness and identify cost-saving initiatives.
• Oversee the Philanthropy department staff and ensure that a continuous growth and creative atmosphere is promoted within the department.
• Adopt a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for opportunities to improve the experience and performance of all journeys.
• Responsible to implement all marketing plans for fundraising programs, annual and campaign communication plans.
• Provide organization wide leadership to all Philanthropic/Grant development activities.
• Oversee the funding opportunities for community-based programs and initiatives.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of current and emerging charitable sector trends and legislation.
• Oversee prospect research.
• Oversee the development of the Annual Report

2. Donor and Partner Relations

• Develop positive relationships with current donors and provide stewardship to the donor cultivation process.
• Responsible for the review and control of all gift acknowledgements, including receipts, thank you letters, sponsorship reminders, etc.
• Work with community partners to develop and communicate events that raise the organization's profile and increase fundraising opportunities.
• Work in collaboration with the Board of Directors Philanthropy committee to effectively identify, cultivate and steward donors.
• Meet prospective donors and supporters on a regular basis to establish effectively communicate with them.
• Ensure appropriate research is undertaken to provide background information prospective major donors!
• Identify prospective sponsors and partners, create sponsorship proposals with effective business cases that will help gain new partners and strengthen existing collaborators.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in fundraising, business, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development.
• Proven track record of securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
• Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and revenue forecasting.
• Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor stewardship, and CRM/database management (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, donor perfect) preferred

Skills:

• Leadership & Strategy: Ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to engage donors, corporate partners, and community stakeholders.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication for grant writing, donor outreach, and public speaking.
• Analytical & Financial Acumen: Ability to analyze donor data, track fundraising progress, and manage budgets.
• Event & Campaign Management: Experience planning fundraising events, capital campaigns, and annual giving initiatives.
• Passion & Mission-Driven: Commitment to the organization's values and ability to inspire philanthropy.

Pay: $62,400.00 per year
