OPPORTUNITY
VITA is seeking a
Director of Operations
to join the leadership team. VITA is looking for a candidate who seeks opportunities for improvement and can drive operational excellence and alignment to business objectives. The successful applicant for this role enjoys working with details, data aggregation, legislative and MCCSS changes and stakeholder agreements. In addition, having great people skills helps you coach, mentor and support growth and development of staff.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) this leadership position champions a positive work atmosphere through the supervision and evaluation of VITA's Programs. The Director of Operations works in partnership with the COO and other senior staff to drive operational performance and execution while building a talent rich team. This role optimizes systems and structures that effectively reduces program inconsistencies and allows operations to scale and grow within VITA.

THE ROLE:
Reporting to the COO your role will be responsible for:
Directs, manages and oversees service delivery to ensure quality of overall service and health and safety, and ensures welfare of members and staff in day-to-day operations.
Ensures the service delivery adheres to the organizational mission, vision, value statements as well as matches strategic directions of the organization.
Assesses existing services seeking the gaps and plans and implements processes to enhance service excellence.
Applies effective critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced, complex, and continually changing environment.
Develops new initiatives to support sectorial transformation and organization's strategic plans.
Serves as a positive, dynamic leader that displays excellent work ethic and coaches and mentors middle management staff in an effort of developing internal talent pool.
Ensures compliance with Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services requirements, funder guidelines and all relevant legislation (e.g. rights, privacy, health & safety, labour etc.) are adhered to.
Refines a delivery of service model that enhances member-directed supports, professional autonomy and accountability through collaborative practice.
Responds to calls for proposals in accordance with the needs of the organization/community.
Provides on-call consultations (after hours) to problem solve, provides direction and supports in response to emergencies.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with Stakeholders including local government.
Networks and actively participate in internal and sector committee meetings.
Knowledgeable of Collective Agreement provisions.
Other related duties as assigned by the operational director or delegate.
WHAT YOU BRING:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, administration, business or other related field or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
Master's degree in administration, social work, or psychology or related field is an asset.
Minimum 10 years professional experience postgraduate in the field of developmental disabilities/health/mental health within community settings.
Minimum 5 years of managerial experience across multiple settings or comparable employment experience
Valid Driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
Strong understanding of developmental services, mental health, and related government regulations.
Strong networking and community engagement knowledge and abilities.
Strong and well-developed leadership (inclusive leadership style is an asset), and management skills (planning, budgeting, resource allocation).
Knowledge of collective agreements and working within a unionized environment.
Strong analytical, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Resilient strategic thinking.
Excellent communication, written, oral and presentation skills.
Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
Project management and computer skills.
