The Director of operations is responsible for all operations within the facility and staff in order to produce quality foods in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner.
GENERAL DUTIES
Provide leadership, direction, guidance and support to team members and supervisors.
Lead the production team to ensure the achievement of objectives & quotas, implement manufacturing procedures and maximize efficiencies.
Perform Analysis on Direct Product Cost Variances, including yield and labor
Work with the scheduling team and plant supervisors to execute the schedule on time
Communicate the vision of the plant and company; create strategies and actions to achieve that vision.
Assist executive team in building a high performing manufacturing organization and attract, develop and retain the best talent.
Take initiative and exercise timely and good judgment in day to day decisions
Introduce KPIs and analytics to measure performance, actively using results to redirect ressources as required
Actively partner with strategic suppliers to ensure collaboration and build strong relationships
Provide positive, motivating and efficient communication with all team members by communicating job expectations;
Multi-task and organize production, be able to change and adapt quickly if issues arise, make decisions quickly and efficiently.
Create and foster a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction, waste minimization, ensure HACCP and GMP are followed and monitores.
Build and manage SOPs
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 5 years of food plant management, with experience in the meat industry.
Bachelors degree in operations management, engineering or other food related/ operational field required, MBA is an asset.
Exceptional leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, coach employees to take decisions and improve, engage employees and promote the company's culture.
Prior hands on experience is important, an active " floor presence" mentality is expected.
Critical thinker, to quickly and properly troubleshoot issues as needed.
Ability to properly prioritize tasks, multi task and stay composed under pressure
Collaborative & entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to lead change and drive sustainable results is important.
Experience with ERP software, especially SAP B1 is an asset
The right candidate must be result oriented, self-motivated, detail-orientated, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have good time management & organizational skills
Good computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel
Flexible schedule since the plant operates 5-7 days a week
