The Director of Food, Pharmacy & Liquor will report directly to the CEO and work as part of the Senior Leadership team. In this role you will drive public awareness, profitability, operational excellence, and safety, while collaborating with store management, HR, Finance, and Loss Prevention to ensure seamless operations.
What you'll do:
Lead and mentor department managers, setting productivity and performance targets
Foster engagement by sharing goals, celebrating successes, and recognizing achievements
Provide coaching, training, and discipline as needed
Ensure compliance with all required training (WHMIS, Food Safe, etc.)
Identify high-potential employees and create annual development plans
Support managers in understanding and using Co-op systems and financial reports

The Collaborators:
You will collaborate across the organization with Marketing, Media, HR, Finance, and Loss Prevention. You will also liaise with the FCL regional office on programs, promotions, and operational initiatives, and work with local suppliers to integrate Alberta products into our stores. Additionally, you will contribute to budgeting and strategic planning, including SWOT analyses and 5-year plans.

You will lead and work closely with department managers, team leaders, and store management across our Food, Pharmacy, and Liquor Division. Who are you:
You are looking for a career in Retail Operations Leadership and:
Have 5+ years' management experience in retail/food/grocery
Have a Degree in Business (preferred) or related discipline (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills
Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
