Job Description


A highly respected non-profit organization is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the administrative, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and human resource functions. It is a very hands-on role reporting to the Executive Director with liaison to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors. Some great flexibility with this opportunity utilizing a .8 time commitment and 50% hybrid home/office arrangement.

Key responsibilities will include:

Full cycle accounting function utilizing Spectra accounting software.

Prepare and analyze finance reports through postings of receivables, payables and journal entries.

Present monthly and annual financial statements to the Executive Director.

Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the Audit Committee. Present the audited financial statements at the Annual General Meeting.

Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process and present the annual budget to Board of Directors.

Manage cash flow and cash forecasting.

Provide strategic recommendations to Executive Director based on financial analysis.

Administer compensation & benefits for salary and hourly staff along with typical human resource functions.

Provide recommendations for improvements to processes within finance, administration and human resources.

Support the stakeholders across the organization and be the voice for finance.

What the organization expects from you:

A professional accounting designation.

Strong technical skills in accounting and financial reporting.

Strong communication skills with high attention to detail.

Experience within non-profit sector and exposure/experience to fund accounting and Spectra accounting software would be a big asset.

Interest and ability to embrace a hands-on finance role with a wide range of responsibilities.

Payroll, human resource experience and property management experience would be an asset.

The ability to communicate effectively across a diverse group of stakeholders.

Proven ability to work independently with strong time management and organizational skills.
