We are looking for an experienced VP/Director of Finance to lead our financial strategy and operations in Cambridge, Ontario. In this role, you will oversee financial planning, reporting, and compliance, while driving process improvements and aligning financial goals with corporate objectives. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of expertise in accounting, treasury management, and leadership to ensure the organization's financial health and long-term success. This is an IN OFFICE position.
Responsibilities:

  • Direct the development and management of budgets and forecasts, identifying opportunities for cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Formulate and implement corporate finance strategies, ensuring optimal allocation of capital and exploring alternative funding solutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records through regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including intercompany transactions and fixed assets.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing required documentation and facilitating efficient audit processes.
  • Manage tax compliance processes, including the preparation and submission of corporate tax returns and the timely payment of liabilities.
  • Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and controls to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
  • Partner with other departments to provide financial insights and align strategies with organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, legal advisors, consultants, and financial institutions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Accounting designation (CPA, CA, or equivalent) is required.
  • At least 15 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with a preference for expertise in real estate or retail sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and data analysis, with familiarity in accounting systems like QuickBooks Desktop or NetSuite as an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proven capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing finance teams.
