Job Description

Position Overview



The Director of Events is responsible for the events operation and oversees the development, coordination, and delivery of meetings, banquets, conferences, weddings, performances, concerts, and charitable events in the casino in collaboration with the event coordinator, event supervisor and Corporate Event Specialist. The Director of Events is responsible for achieving annual objectives and targets, networking, researching and securing events, negotiating quotes and agreements, completing contracts with clients, monitoring timeframes, staying within budget, and providing direction and leadership to the events team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities



Manage schedules, staffing, training, and leave requests Document performance reviews and disciplinary action in accordance with HR Support the development of a healthy internal culture and enforce company values Serve as a dynamic and energetic leader, fostering teamwork, employee morale, motivation, and open communication Maintain a professional and positive demeanor Provide timely communication to employees about changes in the department Possess expert knowledge of the amenities, casino promotions, and the Totem Rewards Club membership and its benefits Oversee event projects from conception to completion ensuring proper coordination and communication with other departments Ensure adequate staffing with departments including F&B, Security, Housekeeping, etc Facilitate meetings and showcase events space to clients to determine event needs Document and record customer conversations on designated platform Deliver on customer needs and wants Ensure contracts are detailed clearly and that client needs are met prior to the event Ensure contracts are fully executed and stored as per company expectations Manage the events calendar and ensure information is up to date Obtain permits as required Collect deposits and / or payments and provide to the Finance Department Meet objectives and targets that correspond with the annual business plan Analyze daily operations to project and increase revenue Generate a profit and loss estimate before events, profit and loss statement after events Plan and coordinate charitable events with charitable organizations (bingo, chase the ace, 50/50) Work with F&B to maximize revenue opportunities through the sale of services during events Collaborate with the marketing team to create new promotions and events on the casino floor Organize post-event follow up to ensure quality of event Liaising and negotiating with vendors Manage and maintain events inventory Work within provided budget Follow company processes for purchases; create Purchase Orders for approval Adheres to Grey Rock Entertainment Centre internal controls, policies and procedures and routinely audits slot attendant compliance to these internal control standards Other duties as reasonable and assigned

Working Conditions



May be required to stand, sit or bend for extended periods of time Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance Must be available to work a rotating shift support the Casino hours of operations (holidays and weekend included) and on-call Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Experience & Qualifications Required



Must be 19 years or over Post-secondary education in Business Management, Commerce, Hospitality, or Event Planning, considered an asset Exceptional experience in customer service A good head for business development Excellent computer and numerical skills Strong organizational and team-working skills Ability to work effectively with a large number of clients and providers The ability to work to deadlines and cope with the consequent pressure The energy and enthusiasm to deal with difficult clients Expert level Fluency in ENGLISH and FRENCH (written and spoken)

Retail or Hospitality POS management Hotel Management experience 3+ years of Manager/Supervisor experience
