In support of our continued growth and diversification, we are currently seeking an experienced and personable executive to join our Senior Leadership Team as
Director of Estimating and Business Development
. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for overseeing estimating operations, driving business development initiatives, and helping shape strategic growth across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and effectively manage the Estimating Department, ensuring team alignment with corporate objectives and project goals
Collaborate with Project Execution Teams to develop accurate, competitive pricing strategies
Build and maintain strong relationships with engineers, owners, and consultants to support successful bids and project execution
Select, coordinate, and negotiate with subcontractors to ensure optimal project delivery
Champion innovation within the department, streamlining workflows and advancing estimating practices
Set and monitor financial targets that align with company growth plans
Provide oversight and strategic guidance on proposal submissions, ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded
Assemble specialized bid teams by aligning internal staff, suppliers, and subcontractors to target strategic projects
Maintain and grow a network of trusted subcontractors and suppliers
Analyze current market trends and adjust strategies to maximize competitiveness and opportunity
Develop business strategies to expand the company's client base and market presence
Lead bid closings and proposal submissions with attention to quality, accuracy, and timing
Maintain an up-to-date directory of suppliers and contractors for estimating and procurement use
Identify current and future market opportunities and position the company accordingly
Set departmental goals that reflect and support broader corporate objectives
Develop and implement detailed business development strategies to support company growth
Forecast short- and long-range project opportunities and adjust pursuit strategies accordingly
Promote and articulate Bray's service offering differentiators to secure project wins
Support and guide early contract negotiations with clients and partners
Understand client needs and expectations, tailoring proposals and services to deliver value
Participate actively as a contributing member of the Senior Leadership Team
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
10+ years of progressive leadership experience
in estimating, business development, or project execution within heavy civil or ICI construction
Demonstrated success in leading teams, developing revenue-generating strategies, and managing complex pursuits
Strong understanding of construction risk, contract negotiation, and project financials
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
