Role Overview
We're seeking an
Engineering Lead
to join our team, driving both conceptual and detailed design of advanced nuclear systems. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight of engineering execution, compliance, and supplier collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Lead conceptual and detailed design engineering on mechanical equipment, systems, and processes.
Prepare design documentation including requirements, specifications, drawings, test and commissioning procedures, and regulatory submissions.
Review and verify design reports, calculations, and analysis to ensure technical integrity.
Conduct technical meetings with peers, regulators, clients, and suppliers.
Provide engineering support during manufacturing, assembly, testing, and quality surveillance.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and nuclear regulations.
Qualifications
Education & Professional Designation
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Electrical, or related engineering field. Postgraduate degree is an asset.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or equivalent with eligibility to transfer to a Canadian provincial license.
Professional Experience
5+ years of progressive engineering experience in the nuclear energy sector.
Track record leading technical teams and delivering large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
Experience with nuclear plant or SMR design, covering both primary (nuclear) and secondary (conventional) systems.
Familiarity with project management methodologies in a nuclear context.
Technical Competencies
Deep knowledge of nuclear technologies, licensing, and regulatory frameworks (CNSC, USNRC, ONR, or similar).
Strong understanding of industry codes and standards.
Expertise in one or more SMR-relevant disciplines (e.g., structural mechanics, mechanical systems, plant integration) with broad interdisciplinary awareness.
Leadership & Management Skills
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Experience mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of safety, learning, and innovation.
Strong stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking skills, particularly when coordinating with licensing, safety analysis, and operations.
Other Requirements
Eligibility for nuclear industry security clearance.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Pay: $105,000.00-$155,000.00 per year
