The Opportunity

Are you a fundraising leader who can combine strategy with execution, cultivating legacy donors while pioneering new ways to engage the next generation?

Do you want to make an eternal impact by growing financial support for a global media ministry sharing the gospel?

TWR is seeking a Director of Development who can think big, execute with excellence, and bring fresh vision to donor acquisition and engagement, especially as they look to reach new generations while honouring a faithful existing donor base.

About Trans World Radio Canada (TWR Canada)

TWR Canada's mission is to assist the Church in making disciples of all people by sharing Christ through media around the world. Founded in 1973, TWR Canada facilitates, creates, and supports Christian programming, digital resources, and missionaries who share the gospel through radio, digital platforms, and personal engagement.

Their work spans continents, and their heart is always the same: to share the hope of Jesus in the hard, hostile and unreached nations of the world.

About the Director of Development

The Director of Development provides strategic leadership and hands-on execution to all fundraising and donor engagement efforts. Reporting to the President & CEO and serving on the Senior Leadership Team, this role is responsible for donor development strategy, revenue growth, and team leadership.

The Director of Development is accountable for driving revenue growth across donor segments, including expanding the overall donor base, launching and scaling a monthly giving program, and increasing total giving to support TWR Canada's mission.

Specifically, in this role you'd be responsible for:

Fundraising & Donor Engagement - 40%

Manage a personal portfolio of major and mid-level donors, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts to meet annual revenue goals. Build strong relationships with churches, Christian foundations, and ministry partners across Canada. Develop donor segmentation and profiling strategies to grow monthly donors and reach new audiences, especially younger demographics. Implement creative donor acquisition and retention campaigns, bringing fresh thinking and practical execution to every stage. Lead initiatives that grow the number of active donors, broaden engagement beyond existing supporters, and strengthen donor retention. Represent TWR Canada at donor visits, foundation meetings, and public events as a passionate ambassador for the mission.

Strategic Planning & Revenue Growth - 25%

Design and implement a national fundraising strategy aligned with the size, scope, and vision of TWR Canada. Provide strategic direction for upcoming changes to the website and digital giving platform (execution support available). Analyze fundraising data using DonorPerfect to evaluate segmentation, retention, giving trends, and campaign effectiveness. Grow and diversify revenue streams, including major gifts, planned giving, grants and digital campaigns, with a focus on engaging new generations of supporters. Launch and expand a monthly giving program as a core component of donor growth and long-term sustainability. Ensure measurable year-over-year growth in both donor numbers and overall giving, aligned with organizational goals and scorecards.

Team Leadership & Coaching - 15%

Lead and mentor a small team of development staff and contractors, providing clear direction, spiritual support, and regular feedback. Equip board members and volunteers with tools and encouragement to participate in fundraising initiatives. Foster a collaborative, Christ-centered culture of prayer, excellence, and shared accountability. Set clear goals and ensure the team has the necessary resources to meet deliverables and drive long-term donor development success.

Events & Campaign Oversight - 15%

Oversee the planning and execution of national and regional fundraising events, maximizing ROI and ensuring alignment with TWR's mission, message, and brand. Support regional staff and contractors with campaign development, maximizing engagement, storytelling, and return on investment. Collaborate with Communications to shape consistent, compelling donor messaging across events and appeals.

Organizational Leadership - 5%

Serve on the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy, budgeting, and ministry-wide planning. Uphold and model ethical fundraising practices that align with CRA guidelines and Christian stewardship principles. Champion a culture of generosity, prayer, and shared mission throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Spiritual Alignment

Affirm alignment with TWR Canada's mission and core values, actively supporting the advancement of the Gospel through media and ministry partnerships. Model Christ-like character both professionally and personally, demonstrating integrity, humility, and servant leadership in all areas of life and work. Participate in prayer and spiritual gatherings as part of staff community life, contributing to a culture of shared worship, intercession, and mutual encouragement. Support stakeholders spiritually and relationally, reflecting TWR's values in all interactions with donors, churches, foundations, partners, and colleagues. Engage prayerfully with donors and partners as appropriate, recognizing that stewardship is both financial and spiritual in nature. Encourage and cultivate a Christ-honouring workplace where ministry and mission remain central, and where generosity, accountability, and excellence are consistently demonstrated.

Education & Experience

7-10 years of fundraising experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role. Proven success in major gifts, foundation giving, campaign strategy, and donor engagement. Experience with donor segmentation and campaign development. Bachelor's degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Philanthropy, or a related field. CFRE designation or working toward it is an asset. Proficient with donor CRMs (DonorPerfect experience preferred), Microsoft Office, and digital engagement tools. Valid driver's license; national travel required.

Personal Skills

Strategic and analytical thinker, comfortable with hands-on execution. Excellent communicator--verbal, written, and public speaking. Strong relationship builder with a heart for ministry impact. Comfortable providing strategic direction on digital systems (giving platform, website) without needing to execute technical implementation directly.

If you meet some but not all of these requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We are looking for passionate and committed individuals who are willing to learn and grow in community.

Work Environment:

This is a permanent, full-time, in-office position based in London, Ontario. The successful candidate will work during standard business hours, Monday to Friday.
