About the Role



RICI Contracting is seeking a

Director of Field Operations

to take command of our front-line operations across civil construction, asphalt, waste management, snow and property services.

This role is for a

seasoned operator

who can lead

large cross-functional crews

, manage

diverse project portfolios

, and deliver results

on time and on budget

across the

municipal and commercial real estate sectors

.

Key Responsibilities

Field & Crew Management

Lead and mentor a team of field staff operations manager, site foreman, drivers, operators, and labourers Set and enforce operational standards for safety, quality, and productivity Oversee scheduling, resourcing, and daily deployment of equipment and crews Directly resolve site-level issues and ensure jobs are progressing as planned
Project Execution

Manage multiple, concurrent jobs across sectors: asphalt paving & civil construction (Excavation/Demo/site servicing), snow removal, waste bin service, facility maintenance Ensure all jobs are completed on time, on budget, and to client specs Coordinate closely with estimators, dispatch, and admin to streamline workflow Track project KPIs, report on delays, and develop recovery plans when needed
Multi-Division Operations

Operate across several verticals: civil construction, municipal contracts, commercial property maintenance Align team performance with service contracts and SLAs Implement operational processes to scale multi-service delivery effectively Leverage GPS tracking and AI field data to monitor performance and reduce inefficiencies
Client Relationship & Accountability

Be the face of operations for property managers, municipalities, and general contractors Ensure that site work aligns with client expectations and contract terms Attend walkthroughs, progress meetings, and client calls as needed Resolve client concerns swiftly, with a focus on long-term relationships
This role requires

frequent travel across Ontario

, including extended site presence in regions such as

Fort Frances, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, London, Sarnia, and Windsor

.

You will be expected to

spend time in the field with crews

, oversee job execution firsthand, and ensure operational consistency across all remote and urban job sites.

A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided. Candidates must be comfortable with a

mobile, on-the-road leadership style

and capable of working away from home for short periods depending on project demands.

As part of our commitment to servicing commercial and municipal clients, we operate a

24/7 Emergency Facility Services Hotline

for urgent issues such as

sewer and watermain repairs, emergency roof leaks, property cleanouts, and snow removal

.

This role requires a high level of accountability and responsiveness. While we have on-call systems and support staff in place, the

Director of Field Operations

is expected to provide leadership coverage and operational oversight during emergency situations, including outside of standard business hours when necessary.

Who You Are



Minimum 7-10 years

of experience in Sr Management or operations leadership in civil construction, asphalt, or commercial property services Proven ability to

manage multi-million dollar field operations

across diverse scopes of work Experience coordinating

large teams

, equipment, and trades Deep understanding of

municipal contract execution

and

property manager client service

Hands-on leadership style: you've been in the trenches, but know how to run an operation Comfortable with

tech tools

: project management software, GPS, fleet tracking, CRM You are a strong communicator, respected by crews and trusted by clients
