Job Function:

The Director of Compliance is responsible for supporting the Chief Compliance Officer with enhancing and carrying out day-to-day responsibilities for the Compliance Management System, including consumer protection and privacy. Must be well-versed in regulations/legislation affecting functional areas of the business and products, which include installment loans, check cashing, money transmission through both storefront and online channels.

Additionally, the Director of Compliance will be responsible for helping to maintain an inventory of material compliance obligations (MCOs) relating to consumer protection and privacy regulation, conducting risk assessments, help drive regulatory change efforts, and managing the privacy compliance. The Director will act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, as well as business partners.

This position manages and performs complex compliance research, regulatory analysis in order to identify risk in operating practices, policies and procedures with laws and regulations. This position will perform and oversee complex projects that require expertise in financial services industries. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the compliance team, operations, legal counsel, business leaders and third parties is imperative.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Help enhance the Compliance Management System
  • Identify, monitor and review regulatory and legislative changes, particularly related to consumer protection and privacy; becoming familiar with the details of the regulation and advising management of the operational impact of trends and changes.
  • Facilitate implementation of regulatory changes as necessary.
  • Centralize and maintain oversight of business units\xe2\x80\x99 existing Policies, Procedures and Training Documents
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify risks to the Company, its products, third party stakeholders and customers.
  • Develop, participate in, and review proposed changes to company policies and procedures for compliance with applicable regulatory and consumer laws, rules and regulations, and provide recommendations for any necessary changes
  • Review and enhancement as necessary to consumer-facing disclosures, documents, agreements, etc.
  • Conduct regulatory research, synthesize findings and provide recommendation to business proposals and issues.
  • Identify compliance deficiencies or potential problems, and provide guidance in the development of solutions or implementation of corrective action.
  • Prepare written responses to inquiries of a regulatory nature, supporting analysis, conclusions and recommendations upon well-investigated and documented research of regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate the results of compliance projects via written reports and oral presentations to management.
  • Develop and maintain reporting requirements.
  • Work under the general supervision of the Chief Compliance Officer
  • Performs related work as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer.
Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree from an accredited college or university. Preferably an advanced degree such as a law degree or compliance certifications.
Experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of related work experience in bank and/or non-bank financial services industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of banking and non-banking financial services which may include lending, check cashing, money transmission, loan servicing, payments compliance, consumer protection regulations and privacy laws.
  • Experience performing risk assessments, privacy impact analysis.
  • Proven track record of helping build compliance programs.
  • Experience in statutory and legislative review, analysis and reporting.
  • Experience enhancing policies, procedures and training programs.
  • Experience building monitoring programs and controls.
Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of banking and non-banking financial services/lending practices, consumer protection compliance and privacy regulations.
  • Strong leadership, project management and relationship management skills.
  • Extensive skill in planning and project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Considerable skill in effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills and skill in presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships at all levels including management and external contacts, and to work effectively in a professional team environment.
