Role Overview




As the Director of Curriculum and Compliance, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience for our students and ensuring that our private career college operates in full compliance with all applicable regulations and accreditation standards set forth by Alberta Advanced Education, the Private Vocational Institutions Regulation, and other relevant bodies. You will provide strategic leadership and guidance to our academic teams, working collaboratively to develop and maintain innovative and effective curriculum programs while ensuring strict adherence to provincial and national education regulations.

Responsibilities



Curriculum Development

Lead the development and enhancement of curriculum programs to meet industry demands and student needs, adhering to guidelines provided by Alberta Advanced Education. Collaborate with subject matter experts, faculty, and instructional designers to create engaging and relevant course materials that align with the Private Vocational Institutions Regulation. Ensure that curriculum aligns with accreditation standards and industry best practices, as well as meets the criteria for Student Aid eligibility. Regularly review and update course content to reflect changing industry trends and technologies.

Compliance Management

Stay current with all relevant education laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements in Alberta and Manitoba, with a specific focus on the Private Vocational Institutions Regulation. Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards set forth by Alberta Advanced Education. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address compliance gaps, ensuring that programs remain eligible for Student Aid funding. Collaborate with relevant regulatory bodies and accrediting agencies to maintain compliance and accreditation.

Quality Assurance

Establish and oversee quality assurance processes to monitor the delivery of educational programs and services, ensuring alignment with the Private Vocational Institutions Regulation and Student Aid requirements. Conduct internal audits and assessments to evaluate program effectiveness, compliance, and eligibility for financial assistance programs. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall educational experience, maintaining eligibility for Student Aid funding.

Staff Development

Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to academic and administrative staff on compliance matters, emphasizing the importance of adhering to Alberta Advanced Education guidelines and the Private Vocational Institutions Regulation. Foster a culture of compliance and commitment to regulatory standards within the institution Support faculty and staff in aligning teaching methodologies with curriculum objectives and compliance requirements, facilitating access to Student Aid for eligible students.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies, including Alberta Advanced Education, and accreditation bodies as required. Maintain comprehensive records related to curriculum development, compliance activities, and quality assurance efforts, supporting transparency and accountability for Student Aid program eligibility. Ensure all necessary documentation is readily accessible for audits and reviews by regulatory agencies and Student Aid authorities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in education, curriculum development, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in curriculum development and compliance management, preferably in private career colleges or higher education, with a strong understanding of Alberta and Manitoba regulation. Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Experience with educational technology and online learning platforms is a plus.
