starting from $72,947 commensurate with experience

L'Arche Canada is seeking a strategic and creative communications leader to shape and implement a national communications strategy and ensure its consistency. This role promotes the voices and contributions of people with intellectual disabilities, develops L'Arche public image and amplifies the work of L'Arche communities across Canada. Working closely and collaboratively with national and international colleagues, as well as the L'Arche International Communications Director, this role leads a small but dynamic team and supports fundraising, recruitment, public awareness, and internal storytelling.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:



Lead and mentor a diverse communications team (2 full-time, 3 part-time members) Develop and implement L'Arche Canada's national internal and external communications strategies Promote L 'Arche's message and the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in Canadian society and internationally Manage crisis communications and participate in the Crisis Communications Committee Ensure brand consistency and oversee the creation of templates, guidelines, and digital materials Supervise and contribute to digital engagement, including websites and social media Monitor analytics and optimize performance across digital platforms (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics). Collaborate closely with departments including Philanthropy and Program Development Source stories from across the country and draft or edit content for donor appeals, recruitment materials, and reports. Oversee the communications budget and project timelines Support external contractors and freelance contributors as needed, including graphic designers, translators, and videographers. Advance inclusive and accessible communications practices in both digital and print formats. Provide light-touch communication support and tools to L'Arche communities in Canada.

Qualifications:



Experience of 5 to 10 years in the field of communication Graduate degree in communication, social/political studies or a relevant discipline Experience and ability to develop and implement a global communication, press relations and marketing strategy Excellent written and oral knowledge of one of the two official languages, English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language. Strong interpersonal and project management skills Experience in digital communications and public engagement, including social media strategy, email marketing, and website management Willingness to travel within Canada and occasionally internationally

Familiarity with communications platforms and tools

such as WordPress, Mailchimp, Meta Business Suite, Canva, or similar

Understanding of accessibility standards

in digital and print communication (e.g., AODA, plain language, alt text)

Ability to work in a federated or multi-location organizational structure

balancing national strategy with local realities (optional but recommended)*:

Experience working in a non-profit or mission-driven environment

especially in disability, social justice, or community development sectors
Fluent in either FR/EN
