This senior leadership position plays a critical role in overseeing all aspects of clinical care within the LHC Personal Care Home.The Director of Care (DOC) will be responsible for coordinating resident care delivery and services, managing resources, developing policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role also involves monitoring professional standards, developing care plans, advocating for the well-being of residents, and contributing to operational planning.As an integral member of the senior management team, the DOC will oversee nursing and care staff, inspire and mentor a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, and drive change management initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a passion for senior care, and the ability to lead effectively while maintaining the highest standards of care.Job Responsibilities:Resident Care/Clinical Practice:

• Direct, plan, and coordinate resident care to meet or exceed regional, provincial, and national standards.
• Establish, monitor, and evaluate departmental objectives to ensure quality of care in line with the mission statement.
• Ensure current utilization of policies, procedures, and guidelines for safe care delivery.
• Implement emergency plans and security protocols effectively.
• Lead in best practice and quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide guidance and support to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of residents' needs through collaboration with Nurse Managers.
• Offer individualized support and coaching to Nurse Managers for resident-focused care.
• Address complaints and concerns promptly and in accordance with facility policy.

Resource Management:

• Lead and implement strategic change management processes at LHC Personal Care Home to drive organizational transformation, foster a culture of adaptability, and ensure seamless transitions.
• Play an active role in budget planning for LHC Personal Care Home operations, including staffing, equipment, and supplies, ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial efficiency.
• Review financial reports and take appropriate action based on variance analysis.
• Ensure adequate supplies and equipment utilization for resident care.
• Recommend purchases of new or replacement equipment as needed.

Human Resource Management:

• Recruit, interview, and hire employees based on resident care needs and facility guidelines.
• Implement progressive discipline and participate in collective bargaining processes in collaboration with Human Resources.
• Conduct performance appraisals and update position descriptions as required.
• Develop mechanisms to ensure effective communication on the unit including regular staff meetings.
• Provides training and development to staff following regulatory and company requirements.
• Participates in the implementation of and development of health and safety procedures.

Professionalism:

Your education and qualifications:

• Current registration with CRNM or CRPNM.
• Baccalaureate of Nursing required; Masters preferred.
• Minimum five years of current clinical nursing practice, with leadership experience in long-term care.
• Ability to work effectively in small and large groups.
• Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of long-term care regulations and standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor healthcare staff in a dynamic environment.
• Passionate about senior care and committed to providing the highest level of service.
• Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced setting.
• Self-directed with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
• Physically and mentally capable of performing all duties of the position.
• A willingness to work flexible hours and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
